It's Party Time at the Outlawz Greetings CHallenge This Week

And I am ready to party hearty with a pretty little steampunk image from The Stamping Chef  called Cogsley Copperpot.

I had so much fun! making this card. First I colored her with my trusty Copics, then distressed the edges of the image and backed it with cardstock. I found some Tim Holtz patterned paper that I paired with handmade patterned paper I sprayed with my own homemade shimmer mists. Then I embossed the handmade paper with a gears embossing plate (I've been dying to use it for a while now). I also distressed another embossed paper and as I was doing so, the corner pulled apart from the rest! So I used it in the top right corner.
After adding die cut and sticker gears, I finished off my challenge card with a catchy sentiment. All cards entered into the Greetings Challenge at the Outlawz needs to have a sentiment on the front. Hope to see your card there this week!

Love Rules without Rules

Today I made a card for my girlfriend, who will celebrate her wedding anniversary next week.  I love, love, love this QKD image called Steampunk Heart.  I had so much fun coloring and embellishing it!  Here I popped my colored image onto a piece of Tim Holtz Idea-ology patterned paper, tearing the edges.  I added to the effect with some diecut gears.
I adhered it all to background paper that was designed by me using three different acrylic paints and a credit card to scrape it all together into the pattern you see.  Punching holes at the bottom, I tied ribbons using more Tim Holtz (this time in the way of brads).   After adhering the whole thing to some sheet music, I finished off my card by rubbing some metallic acrylic gold paint around the edges.

Getting Steamy with a QKD Image

It's new release time over at Queen Kat Designs, and I have a great image to show you today!

I altered a composition notebook for my daughter.  She fell in love with "Steampunk Heart" one of the new digital images available at the QKD Shop.  She loves to write, so I covered a composition notebook with some handmade paper and distressed the heck out of it.
I colored this heart image with Copics, adding some shine in parts with Liquid Glass from CTMH.  I had a few gears from Spare Parts by the Paper Studio that I adhered onto the heart.  The rest of my gears and chains went onto my cover, along with some hearts and a journal sticker.
I have been cleaning out my craft room, trying to get organized, and I rediscovered some grunge board in the shape of latches.  I distressed them with inks, paints and mists, spraying and rubbing and sanding.  I'm quite proud of how they turned out. In person, they look like strips of leather. One thing I have also discovered in my craft room clean-out.  I don't have a lot of "distressing" supplies.  I'll have to fix that right away! LOL

Spider Queen

I love Halloween, don't you?  It's never too early to start making Halloween cards in my book, so I used a QKD digi image from artist Leanne Wilson called
Spider Queen.

I threw a bunch of techniques-image colored with Copics, fussy-cut my image, distressed the patterned papers.  She looked a little steam-punky so I added gears in with the spider webs, added some netting and lace, and then surrounded her with her little babies.

Steampunk Challenge on Forever Night Creepy Challenges Blog

Do you love Halloween?  Well, on Forever Night Creepy Challenges Blog, it's Halloween all year round--in crafting terms!  This week's challenge is STEAMPUNK, and a big thank you goes to Sassy Studio Designs, this week's sponsor.

I used a SSD image called Steampunk Josephine.  I just love her!  She is fun and funky and curvaceous and cute!  I am a newbie to Steampunk, but I'm slowly getting my toes wet as I step deeper into these new waters.
I colored Josephine with my Copics, then added some shimmer with Stickles and a glitter gel pen.  I distressed my background paper, and added to it with another stamped image from Queen Kat Designs, then Stickled the chains and added a medallion.
A Tim Holtz sentiment, "life is about creating yourself" is underfoot.
What's new with you in 2013?  I decided this year I would like to create a new ME (or at least improve upon her).
My first resolution is to DO or LEARN something new each month.  It could be Yoga or Beading or German, I don't know yet. LOL
My second resolution is to try and LIVE HEALTHIER.  Better food, more activity, stronger body.
My last resolution is to perform a RANDOM ACT of KINDNESS every day--giving my time, my talent, my treasure, wherever I go and whomever I may meet.
Simple plan, hope I can live up to my dreams!!  Wish me luck, I'll be keeping track of my year here, along with all my lovely crafting.
