Going Green at the 12 Months of Christmas Blog

This month at the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge Blog, the optional theme is to "Add Some Greenery." My greenery is in my holly border on the left, in the poinsettia under the sentiment and in my patterned papers from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. My image is called "Joyeux Noel" from Luna Girl, who offers tens of thousands of vintage ephemera images. Lunagirl is sponsoring the August challenge.

This month, in order to have a chance to win the prize from Lunagirl, our guest sponsor, you are asked to create a card that has GREENERY (Christmas trees, wreaths, holly and berries, ivy, pine boughs, poinsettia plants, mistletoe, etc.) featured prominently in your overall design. If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize.

Now, you don't need to follow the theme to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month or for a chance to win the featured paper set. But if you follow the theme, the prize offered is a $15.00 gift certificate to the Lunagirl store.

How's your stash of Christmas cards coming along? I've got a nice amount already, and it's only August!! At this rate, I should have time to create some tags to go along to the presents I'm giving out. This year my family has decided to adopt the Icelandic tradition of giving books as presents. They give them out on Christmas Eve, and everyone starts reading them that night, but it's nice to unwrap a present on Christmas Day. Maybe instead of tags, I'll create bookmarks to go with the books I give out...

Back to the challenge- make sure you link your holiday cards by the last day of the months for your chance to win the prizes offered. Good luck and happy crafting!!

Scribbles Designs Celebrates the Year of the Dog

Chinese New Year may be over, but Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog is whooping it up this month. The Year of the Dog is the new challenge theme, so pull out your tail-wagging images and join the fun.
I created a card using two digi images from the Scribbles Store, #842 Dog House and (freebie) #F 31 Dog Bone (freebie). I plundered my crafting stash and pulled out some vellum paper, a few pieces of cardstock, a bow and some ribbon. My sentiment is printed in Grasshopper font.
You have a month to create and share your card or project, and one random winner will receive a gift certificate to the Scribbles Store. Here's hoping the Year of the Dog is a lucky one for you!!
Good luck and happy crafting!

Ike's World Challenge Blog is All at Sea

A new month brings a new challenge theme at Ike's World Challenge Blog. The optional theme this month is ALL AT SEA. When I think of summer, I'm reminded of summer camp. My favorite movie that highlights the antics of campers is Disney's Parent Trap. There's a scene where the twins go camping with their dad and their "future" mother-in-law", whom they can't stand. So one of the many tricks they play on her is to pull her airbed onto the lake and gently push her out on the water. Here's a little clip from YouTube.

This is what happened to my kitty. He fell asleep on land and woke up in the middle of the sea. I don't think he's a water cat. But no worries, I'm sure a passing boat will rescue her. At least there are plenty of fish in the sea for her to eat...

I love tearing paper, especially when I'm designing water for my cards. I used the smallest of my paper stash. The sentiment is a play on the words "You've got to be kidding me." I printed my cat, an Ike's Art image called Basket Case, twice, so that I could give my cat a little dimension by bringing her head to the front.

You've got all of August to create a project that incorporates the theme ALL AT SEA. Link up for your chance to win free digis from Ike's Art Store. Good luck and happy crafting!

There's Fun in the Sun to be Had at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog

In this age of technology, a person get anything on a computer or digital device. Parents no longer have to buy expensive sets of encyclopedias, students no longer have to go to the library for references and citations. Avid readers can store numerous books on their Kindles and Nooks, etc.
I don't know about you, but I like to hold a PAPER BOOK in my hands. It's easier on the eyes, I don't have to charge it and the words I read seem to have more "weight".

As a book reader, I often find myself looking for a bookmark, so I thought I'd make a set of bookmarks for my DT make today for Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog. The theme at Scribbles Designs is FUN IN THE SUN. I love to sit in the sunshine with a book in one hand and a tall cool glass of iced tea in the other hand. Preferably looking out over the Caribbean, but living in Chicago makes that an impossibility unless I'm vacationing.

My bookmarks use a digi image from the Scribbles Designs Store called #848 Flip Flops. I digitally colored a few pair of flip flops, lined them up and printed my sentiment over them: "Summer reads are to flip over". After adhering the bookmarks to some handmade paper, I hand-colored another set of flip flops for each bookmark. I used colored pencils and glitter gel pens and placed these in the corners where the bookmarks will stick out of books.

This challenge runs until the 14th of August, so don't forget to link up your card or project for your chance to win a gift certificate to the Scribbles Store.
By the way, what are you reading right now? I just finished an Anne McCaffrey book that I must have missed throughout the years, and have started a China Bayles mystery series by Susan Wittig Albert.

Happy crafting, peeps and don't forget, "Fight evil...Read a book."

Anything Goes at Your Scrapbook Place Challenge Blog

Rick St. Dennis is one of my favorite artists, and I was so happy when I discovered that he was sponsoring August's challenge at Your Scrapbook Place. I chose to play with "Morning Goddess True Sexy." I have her in a few different poses as she is one of my favorite characters in Rick's Store. I love that Rick knows that sexy doesn't disappear with age, nor is it weighted down by shape.

As I promised at the beginning of the year, I am still attacking my craft stash. It doesn't look like I made a dent in it, but after using four layers of paper, I know that it is being reduced. I am also getting my supplies more organized, so that I can spend more time on designing and creating and less time looking for the supplies I need!

Your Scrapbook Place offers monthly challenges where the theme is always Anything Goes. So craft with love and link up your project for your chance to win a prize from our very special sponsor, Rick St. Dennis. Have fun!
