New Tilda Album up close and personal

Here's the album I made up close and personal.
I used all the paper scraps from my partner, so I have no clue what papers were used. I punched a few swirls and used a leftover diecut bird of paradise.

This is really a friendship album, with lots of pages for photos and journaling, plus tags to write more journaling or put some photos on them.
Oops, there are more trick-or-treaters at my door!

I Dare You Creations

I'm hosting a challenge on Scrapbook Place Yahoo Group. It's called I Dare You and it's a partner swap. All you have to do is send your partner about 10-13 pieces of paper. They'll send you some of theirs as well. Then you create from their leftovers, kind of like a phoenix, rising from the ashes of another's leftover papers.
Anyway, from my partner's stash, I was able to make two cards, two mini cards, a photo mat for scrapping, and a mini-album made from those fabulously free mini envelopes from the school I work at. I even had enough scraps to make tags for the insides of the envies.
Three of the six participants have uploaded photos onto the group album, and a couple are still waiting for their leftovers so they can start creating, but I think the challenge went well. If a participant sends one of their handmades to their partner, they get extra points. I'm going to package mine up now!

New Winter Tilda Mini Album

I found a large quantity of small envelopes, the kind that you put some cash in and donate or send in with your kid at school. I spiral bound the envies to make a mini album, and before I covered the pages, I took off the envie flaps so I could make tags and place them in the pockets. I used Memory Box papers, assorted ribbons and fibers and embellies too numerous and varied to name. I like the way it turned out, and Tilda on the cover is so cute!

Wendy's Christening

These two pages are part of the five new ones I completed this weekend. Again, the photos and some embellishments had been scrapped in one of those old timey grey paper oversized scrapbooks, but the sewer water got to the paper and I could only save parts of the layout. So I "re-scrapped" the event onto 12x12, my standard page size now. The little gown was something the church gifted us with on her Baptism day. The poem I saved and placed on the page described our experience to a tee: it is as if the baby were marrating, and says how she was sprinled with water but water and she didn't agree and she let everyone there know her feelings on the subject. What I most isremember most is forgetting her pacifier at home and the priest poured the water into her eyes and ears and she hollered until the place emptied!

Closer to my 2009 Goal

This is of the second baby shower thrown for me (yes, miss popularity). Both times I was completely surprised and not expecting a thing! Again, I lost a lot of photos, and this event took a big hit. I had girlfriends show up from high school I hadn't seen in twenty years, but no photos to show for it. That's okay, I journaled! LOL
I used basic grey "Blush paper and the journal box was another item from a swap that I received. I get such nice things when I join swaps. I hope the other participants think the same way about my items!
I am getting closer to my 2009 Crafting Goals. When I reach them, I will offer up some yummy blog candy, and since everyone loves the papers I used for the Starbucks coffee cup sleeves album, and the contest card, I guess I'm going to have to feature a pack of it in my Blog Candy. Check me out often, I am so-o-o close to meeting my goals!

Finally New Layouts

I didn't think I was ever going to have time to scrap again! But after two long weeks of cleaning out and cleaning up my scrap room, I can think about scrapping and I have the room to do it!
These photos were originally scrapped not long after my daughter was born, but the old scrapbook took a hit of sewer water when the basement flooded. I and my family were able to save a lot of pics, including these. So now they've been updated, having had to throw away the actually pages they were on originally.
I tried to use the same embellishments, but there weren't many left that were usable. The paper is from the Paper Company, the sticker embellishments from Scrapabilities, and the cute journal box was from a swap.
As I was trying to take pics of the five pages I completed, I found that my memory card was missing from my camera. Long story short, I found it after about two hours of ransacking the trash bags, the vacuum cleaner bag, and crying my eyes out for a good twenty minutes. It was under my stamping pad I keep at my desk!

Winter Magnolia Mini Album

This was fun to make. The pages are actually Starbucks coffee cup sleeves. I covered them with Memory Box winter papers, adhered the bottom, and made assorted tags to put in each "pocket" of the pages. I placed Tilda and Edwin Skating on the cover, and colored them with Copics. All I had to do then was hole-punch each sleeve and attach to a ring.

My Contest Card

My lss is hosting a card contest that started on World Cardmaking Day and ends tomorrow. I had already made one card with the supplies we were given, and it was a pretty card, but I thought I could go one better. Since I had a small obsession LOL with tri-fold cards, I thought I should make my card entry a trifold.
The cardstock is Bazzill, the patterned paper from Memory Box Company. The stamped images are also memory box. The jewels, buttons and ribbon were all in the card kit we received for the contest. We were allowed two extra embellishments, besides cardstock, ink and embossing powder. I chose two snowflakes as my extras. The sentiment is not from the stamp set I received, but from a Christmas Stampin Up set.
I love this paper, and went to the store to buy another pack of it. It is so pretty with the subtle aqua blues. A very light-handed touch to Christmas/winter colors, don't you think?
There are thirty other very talented crafters in the contest. All our cards will be donated to Cards For Heroes.

Halloween is all about the candy, right?

Well, here's your chance to grab some candy. Just check out Dannie's blog here:

She's got great blog candy, and her work is awesome.

More Halloween Candy

Here's another way to wrap a treat for neighbors and freinds. I cut cardstock to fit a candy bar, making it slightly larger than the bar. I used my crimper to decorate the edge, and then sealed the long side as well as the crimped side. I placed the chocolate bar (actually it's a bag of peanut M&Ms) inside and to keep it from falling out, I used black cardstock as a "belt", then decorated it. To get the candy bar out, a trick-or-treater simply slides off the black belt and spills it out. Yummy, huh?

Trick or Treat part 1

I'm in the middle of a ruthless takeover of my craft room. Somewhere in the last month I seem to have lost my desk.
It takes me forever to find the embellishment I need, and
I have had to resort to closing the door when company comes.
So I am systematically going through parts of my room, cleaning
out and cleaning up. I have reorganized my stickers--they no longer need their own drawer, and some lucky person in one of my Yahoo groups is getting the fallout.
My ATCs are back in formation, having used baseball card holders in a binder. I have also said goodbye to the three foot stack of patterned papers I was hoarding. They have been partitioned out as well.
SO now that I have a small space on my desk, I was able to make two candy holders in celebration of Halloween. The first is a candy slider. The box is made, two holes are punched at the top, and a ribbon is looped through the front hole, around a candy bar, and up through the back hole and tied in a bow. All the hungry
trick-or-treater has to do is pull up on the ribbon and out pops a chocolate bar (Reese Peanut Butter cup, to be precise).
Here is the back of my candy holder.
I thought a chocolate quote would be apropos!

Got some new Ribbon Storage

Great for ribbons and fibers, two zippered compartments, and a handy handle---sweet!

Newest Christmas card

Here's my newest Christmas card that I made for: World Cardmaking Day, SplitCoast Stampers Scor-Pal challenge, Scrapbook Place Back to School A-B-C challenge, and my local scrapbooking store's card contest. It is a Verical Z-fold card (the tutorial is on SplitCoast Stampers), using paper and Memory Box stamps and embellies from the lss goody bag. I glanced at the tutorial, but when it came down to it, I made it last night (late) and didn't have the instructions in front of me, so I just winged it. I think it looks good, but I'm not sure of the image. Should I have cut it without the black inking? Anything else that stands out that I should change. Comments, please? A gift card from the lss is riding on this.

House Mouse Christmas Card

I just received some Christmas House Mouse images, and I couldn't wait to color them! Heres' my first attempt at coloring animals. I used Liquid Glass for the ornament, and colored with my Copics. I put mulberry paper to frame out the image, and my paper was CTMH. I have no idea where the candy cane-striped brads came from!
Here's ther inside front cover of my card, again using a colored image of the House Mouse. Below, the inside of the card. The sentiment is from Stampin Up, and the paper is from CTMH. The card is 6x6.

World Card Making Day (Part 2)

This card was the free Make & Take at my lss, Craft Fancy (Hi, Simone!). Not only did I get to make this great card, but she had a limited amount of goody bags with Clear stamps from Memory Box, a strip of adhesive-backed jewels, some assorted patterned paper, extra embellies, and the chance to enter a card-making contest. I have two weeks to enter. Winner receives a gift card and has her card displayed in the store--woohoo!
I always have difficulty coming up with ideas for masculine-themed birthday cards. I thought a rustic woods scene might be in line for saying Happy Birthday to a guy. The bear in the woods is actually an ATC from a swap (received years ago). I pepped up the coloring with Copics, inked the edges of my card base, and added teh sentiment along with a chipboard acorn.
It's almost time to start supper, so I might just have to end my lovely cardmaking session with myself, and be content with seven cards today.

World Cardmaking Day

I'm just a card-making fool today. It's a rainy, nippy, dark day and I've already been out and now I'm home to stay, playing in my craft room. The above card was made using vellum patterned paper from K & Co. I used a Fall-themed ATC and a sentiment whose edges I inked. The brown ribbon is from Joann's, and I just this week received some beautiful, tiny autumn buttons in a PIF on Scrapbook Place to finish off the card.
This card was made using Stampin Up's Costume Bear stamped image. I colored with Copics, added a scallop circle and lined it with adhesive-backed pearls. The two acorns on each end of the sentiment strip are from the tiny assortment of autum buttons like the once I used in the card above.

Fall Cards

Here's my newest Tilda card going Trick or Treating. I used COpics to color, Liquid Gkass to glitz!
With this card I colored an image I received in a swap, added the fall leaf tag and ribbon, then glitzed with gold pen.
Gah, conputer has no battery left--bye!

Anniversary Layout

In September we celebrated 33 years of marriage. The secret? I married him twice!! Long story short, we were both in the Army and I got papers to go overseas. We weren't married at the time, he was actually waiting on final divorce decree. So we up and went to Reno, got married (totally not legal) and turned in that paperwork so that he could re-enlist and get shipped out with me. Three weeks later the papers were signed, we got married (legally this time), but I still ended up in Germany without him.
Speaking of the Army, I just witnessed the formal swearing in of my son into Army Reserves today. His ship date isn't until February--even the Army feels the crunch of the economy and Chase's MOS (job choice) doesn't train until late April/early May, which is when his Basic Training ends and he starts job training. He went in as Military Police, which was his first choice, but the recruiter didn't think he could qualify for that position. I don't know why, since he has a two year degree in Law Enforcement.
Anyway, I had to take photos on my phone cause I got caught without my camera. I should have them printed and maybe I'll have some time to scrap his induction.
Funny thing, Chase thought I'd bust out crying, which I didn't. But unbeknownst to him, I had my cry earlier in the day with my best bud. I know, I know, it's not active duty, but if we don't get this Iraq thing over with soon, he WILL ship out after his first year.

New Layouts

Whew, I have been so busy I hadn't realized that it was ten days ago since my last post! Although work is keeping me hopping, I am beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. And my home life allowed me to relax in the craft room recently, so here are the results from my R&R. With cold weather around the corner, we take Bella to the park as much as we can. She just started going down the big slide without her daddy (which doesn't stop him from going down as well). We bought her sand toys but she mostly wants to slide and swing.
I used the two pages I made at the convention at the StoryTellers Club Make & Take. Except for some DCWV Green Stack chipboard embellishments, and a tiny red bow glitzed with Stickles, everything is from the StoryTellers Club pack. Well, except for the free pack of White Chocolate chipboard alphas from Basic Grey. I took their card class and got a goody bag of Basic Grey goodness.
I joined the club and received mt first package of paper and embellies, but have stopped my membership. It just doesn't seem like a lot of stuff for the price, especially when I bargain shop around town.
