A Coffee Addiction with Oddball Art Stamps

I love creating cards that can bring a smile (or if it's punny, a groan). When I saw this digi image from Oddball Arts Stamps by Lizzie Love, I knew exactly what I wanted for my sentiment! And I hope it brings even the tiniest smile to you.
The image is called #46 Creepy Cute Mummy and I got it FREE!! In fact, I get a free image every week. All I had to do is sign up for the Oddball Art weekly newsletter: Creepy Cute Chronicles.
Anyway, I've been playing around with hybrid cards for a while now. A hybrid card is one which mixes digital and handmade elements/supplies to create your art.
For today's card, I positioned my thirsty mummy image onto a digital paper and printed it twice. Then I colored the images, fussy cutting the Copic-colored mummy and popping it onto my card base with dimensional dots. All credits for the items I used to create my card are below.

Ink: Copics
Meanwhile, I framed my scene with metallic washi tape, added a small moth/butterfly, and added a line of bling. I printed my sentiment onto the entire scene and it's complete. AND I know just the coffee junkie to gift it to!

I'm a Little Odd Myself...

At one point in our lives, everyone goes through an awkward period. Whether true or not, one feels odd, different from "everyone else". Well, you should know by now that everyone is a little bit odd, because everyone is unique. And that's what makes one special, talented, free-thinking. Just think of the world if everyone came from the same old. Where would growth, authenticity, genius, creativity come from? Everyone and everything would be the same, and the human race would become stagnant!
Luckily, we are all odd in some way, and I decided to create a card using my uniquely odd creativity with an image from Oddball Art by Lizzie Love. I adore her uniquely cute and/or creepy images. This one is called Image 467 Mummy Mermaid & Octopus. I used Photoshop to position it onto another image called #470 Dead Sea Bed. Then I printed it twice!
I colored my mermaid, her tiny mummy friend and the sea bed with Copics on both images, then fussy-cut one to place on the other with dimensional dots. I used glitter gel pen for the bubbles. To create a more underwater feel to my card, I crunched up aqua-colored tissue paper and glued it all onto a card base, then framed my image before popping it on.
Besides the sentiment (my own), I added some trim at the bottom of my image and my card is finished. The font I used for the sentiment is called "Be Perky."

That's it for now, crafters! As always, happy crafting!

inspiration at the Path of Positivity

Hello, crafters! I created another card for this month's challenge at the Path of Positivity. My card features another image from A Day for Daisies called Knight in Shining Armor. This card is for a girlfriend whose anniversary is coming up and needed one for her hubby.
The Path of Positivity offers Anything Goes themes with Optional Twists for their challenges.. This month the optional twist is Admiration. In order to be considered eligible for this month's prizes, all projects must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature. Prizes this month include:

An $8 gift certificate from A Day for Daisies, our guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designs, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.

Christmas Creatures Featured at the 12 Months of Christmas

Here's my holiday card for the 12 Months of Christmas blog. The optional twist is to create a card with a Christmas creature. I played with an image from Babycakes DND by Sandra Caldwell. It's called Snow Kitties and it is too cute, don't you think?! Babycakes DND is this month's guest sponsor, and one of my favorite stamp artists.
You don't need to follow the twist to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month nor for a chance to win a $9 gift certificate to the Babycakes Digis & Designs by Sandra Caldwell store. Every challenge runs from the 1st through the last day of the month.
Last month Chicago almost broke its record for latest Spring snowfall, the second snowfall in April. So creating Christmas cards in May is not exactly "out of season". Since I started creating this year's holiday cards in January for the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge blog, I'm building up quite a stash to send out!
Here's what went into my card:
Image: Babycakes DND Snow Kitties
Papers: Decosse's Dynamite Doodles' December Delights Deck the Halls pp; 12 Months of Christmas Checkered pp & 12 Days of Christmas 2018 Green Foil Textured paper
Ink: Copics

Flowers Abound at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog

Today starts a new challenge at  Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog. Since FLOWERS is the theme, and FLOWERS seem to be popping up all over the place, I decided to create a POP-UP card. I used a piece of leftover patterned paper that really emphasizes the theme (you think?) to start with.
I decided that the paper was so busy that the front would just have a simple sentiment, and here's a twist. I need new glasses, so when I chose the sentiment, I thought it said HAppy birthday. But it actually said HOppy birthday! Well, that wouldn't do on my card, so I drew a small line to change the "o" to an "a" and then added a very small bloom above the "i" in birthday. Since this card is a DT make for Sandy Sommerfield of Scribbles Designs, I emailed her with the situation and got her permission to do this.
The most difficult part of the card was the inside. Not having a template, I had to create my own. Three pieces of paper later, I nailed it. I covered the top half with the same patterned paper, and the bottom half with white cardstock.
I also used another Scribbles Designs' image called Heart Tulips. This was the image I popped up on the inside of the card. I colored it with my trusty Copics and I had a pop-up  card!
Do you have flower images or papers or embellishments lying around, just waiting to be used for a project? Why not follow the theme and show Scribbles Designs your take on the it? While the theme is Anything Goes with the option of Flowers, crafters using Flowers get a chance to "hang their projects" in the "Standout Scribblers Hall of Fame."

Emboss It at Ike's World Challenge Blog

Have you seen the movie TROLLS? I have, about 20 times (I have a young granddaughter). There's a song from this animated movie sung by Anna Kendricks and Justin Timberlake. It's called True Colors, a beautiful song. And the inspiration for my DT make for Ike's World Challenge Blog!
While the challenges are always Anything Goes, the optional theme this month is EMBOSSING. I embossed and inked my card face before popping my Ike's Art image onto the card. The image is called sitting Gnome from the Beach Gnomes Set at Ike's Art Store. I played around with it in Photoshop and ended up with this kaleidoscopic effect that went perfectly with my sentiment.
Crafters have all month to create a project and link it to the main challenge blog for their chance to win a gift certificate to Ike's Art Store. Good luck and happy crafting!

A Day for Daisies Sponsors the Path of Positivity Challenge Blog

Life is short. Many people doubt their own worth (we are our worst critics). So if you are impressed by someone - her talent, his achievements, their generosity, her love - speak up! And since a picture is worth a thousand words, say it in a card like I did today.
Yes, the optional Twist for this month's Anything Goes challenge at the Path of Positivity is to create something to show your admiration for somebody. It can be a card, a scrapbook layout, a canvas - wherever your Muse takes you.
I made a card for my daughter. Her strength, honesty and support have helped me through the process of grief. She is a ray of sunshine when my days are cloudy with loss, and is so very creative when it comes to showing me that grief is normal, but not to wallow in it. I hope she can say that I, in turn, am her rock of support and love when it comes to her days of grieving the loss of her dad.
I decided to print an image from A Day for Daisies, one of the guest sponsors this month for the challenge. The image is called "A Special Flower." I printed it directly onto my patterned  paper, a great piece from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles called "Poppy in Wheat Field" from the We Remember Set. I decided to also print the sentiment onto the paper as well.
Printing it twice gave me a second image to color and then pop onto the first using dimensional  tape. I framed it with a paper doily and blinged up a couple corners of the image itself. Since it's almost the end of the semester (and looking toward a killer Final soon), I used a ready-made card base from DCWV and attached a glittery butterfly. I used Stickles to leave a trail of butterfly magic behind it.
n order to be considered eligible for this month's prizes, all projects must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature. Prizes this month include:

  • An $8 gift certificate from A Day for Daisies, our guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designsfor the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight

  • Remember what I said at the start of my post. This is an excellent opportunity to tell someone how much you admire them, while being creative and possible winning some prizes. Of course, the theme is optional. Either way, have fun and craft your heart out. Just don't forget to link your projects with the Path of Positivity blog!!

Pastels Are the Theme at Scribbles Designs

As we enter the last half of Scribbles Designs Challenge for this month, I wanted to feature one of the many awesome doodles in the Scribbles Store. This one is called A30  Flower Doodle 7. While the flowers themselves I colored white and violet (with some shimmer in their centers, I wanted more color for its background. So this has become the image of many colors. I love the combination of blue and yellow, so I used both these colors on which to place my image,as well as to frame it  - first with patterned papers, and then to in its cardstock and stitched  panels. Embellished simply with a couple punched butterflies and a few pearls, the sentiment on my card reads:
    Earth laughs in flowers
Scribbles Designs offers an optional theme every month along with its Anything Goes. This month is all about the Pastels. I hope my card inspires you in some way to join in the challenge for your chance to win free digis at the Scribbles Store. Happy crafting!
