Shades of Red on the Path of Positivity

This month, the Path of Positivity challenge blog continues its exploration of the many shades of colors and how they affect our creativity and lives. Today starts the optional challenge theme of SHADES OF RED
RED is a vibrant color, and stirs my emotions. That's probably why many people associate RED with passion and love. Since Valentine's Day isn't far off, I decided to create a Valentine's Day box for a friend using a digi from Pattie's Creations called Valentine Bear Be Mine.

I covered a box I received in the mail with patterned papers and bling, then colored my image and framed it and my sentiment with a die-cut using my Epic Six machine.
The sentiment reads, "What's better than Chocolate for Valentine's Day?" I decorated the inside of the box as well...where the answer is plain and simple!
Before calling my gift box "finished", I blinged the edges top and bottom and added a bouquet of flowers and a tiny bow to the front. My friend will agree with my sentiment since she is wild over chocolate.

The Path of Positivity blog wants to know how you feel about the color red. Create with the optional theme of "shades of red" and link up to their challenge blog this month. If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that you are included in the draw for the prize for Most Inspirational.

In order to be considered eligible for this month's prizes, ALL creations must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature. You don't need to follow the optional theme if you simply want a chance at the Random Draw prize of a $15 gift certificate from Ike's Art, one of two guest sponsors this month. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win an additional sponsored prize of Three (3) images from Pattie's Creations, the second of this month's guest sponsors, for the project chosen as Most Inspiring.

Good luck and happy crafting!

Scribbles Goes Green This Month

Welcome to a brand new challenge at Scribbles Designs challenge blog. The theme is Go for Green, which I thought was a perfect time for me to create a new layout of Wilson. No, he's not an Irish Settler, he's a Silky Terrier. But We like  to give him a photo opp for each holiday.
I've been creating a lot of digital layouts lately. I would like to send them all out to be printed and bound into a book (or two or ten). While I LOVE paper layout pages, especially chunky ones with lots of memorabilia, they takes up LOTS of room in my house. I'd like to have them all out to pick up and look through now and then, but there's only so much room. I think the books would be a good investment.
If you scrapbook, have you ever made your pages into a bound book? Which company did you use and would you recommend them? Still considering where to get my pages...
Anyway, my layout uses three digital images from Scribbles Designs: F81 Shamrock (FREE), F109 Shamrock Balloons,  and F110 Leprechaun Hat. All my papers are from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles: Chasing Rainbows Patterned Paper Kit, Glitterati Glitter paper in Gold and A Grungy Christmas Textured Paper Kit in dark blue.
I used a couple embellishments from Pixel Scrappers Pauline Thompson: Glitter Scatter 2 and Sheila Reid: Painted Heart Set 1, Brush 6. And my layout is complete...
Now it's time to go green and create something to link up to Scribbles Designs challenge blog for your chance to win  free digis from the Scribbles Store. I can't wait to see what YOU create!

Unearth Hidden Treasures at Ike's World Challenge Blog

Time for a new challenge at Ike's World Challenge Blog.  Everyone loves to find treasure, am I right? Scratch off a lottery ticket and win $5, find a couple bills in your the pocket of a pair of jeans you haven't worn in  while, etc.
What about the hidden treasures that are right in front of you, but you haven't discovered them yet? I just realized that I depend A LOT on Pinterest for recipes, crafty inspiration, quotes for cards, ideas for canvases, etc. In fact, I could spend hours (and I have) on Pinterest, adding to my (already bulging) boards. They really should put a limit to how many pins you can put in a board. Maybe that would lessen the addiction.
That's right, I said it. I am addicted to Pinterest. How many are with me? Anyone willing to admit they spend way too much time looking and not enough time doing??
So today for my DT make, I created a card that not only shows the hidden treasure that I crave, but the action I need to set me free. I truly need a Pintervention...
My card fits perfectly in with the optional theme at Ike's World Challenge Blog of Hidden Treasures and Desires. Of course, mine is not quite hidden. The digital image I used is one of my favorites. It's called Shhh and you can find it in Ike's Store. I love her hair. Every time I color her up, her hair is totally different. I have fun with it.
Anyway, the challenge runs for four weeks from today, and the winner receives an Ike's Art store certificate. So if you like her, you can buy the image Shhh with that certificate. Of course, you can't win it unless you're in it, So go create something, and have fun!

Finding Shades of Red on the Path of Positivity

February is a month known for many things - blustery, frigid temps in the northern hemisphere, Mardis Gras and the beginning of Lent for Catholics around the world, and showers of love in the form of candy, flowers, jewelry, dinners out, etc. to celebrate Valentine's Day.

I chose to create a Valentine's Day card for my DT make for the Path of Positivity challenge blog. The theme this month is "Shades of Red," which fits perfectly with the amount of attention thrown into affection (alliteration intended). I used a digi image from Ike's Art called "Little Miss Innocence."  She got into the spirit of the theme as well by dyeing part of her hair red. I think when she says "forever and always" she really really means it by that look in her eyes.

The Path of Positivity offers an optional challenge theme of "shades of RED" this month. Any kind of artwork is accepted, as long as it is positive, affirming or motivational. You don't need to follow the optional theme if you simply want to have a chance at the Random Draw prize of a $15 gift certificate from Ike's Art, one of the guest sponsors this month.
You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win an additional sponsored prize of three (3) images from Pattie's Creations, the second guest sponsor this month, for the project chosen as Most Inspiring.

Whatever you create, have fun - and don't forget to link it up with the Path of Positivity challenge blog for your chance to win great prizes!  Happy crafting!

Hurray for Holley

I have a very good friend who is celebrating 8 years of "new life" after brain surgery. You can read her story HERE. I have only met her online but Holley has inspired me in so many ways. During the month of February, she is posting crafting questions and giving away prizes every day on her blog. One of her many sponsors is a favorite of mine, Sandra Caldwell Babycakes dnd.
Here's a card I created with one of four Celebration Sale digital images Sandra is offering this month. The image is called  1712 Doctor Hippo and I just love that she has hung up her "Hippo-cratic Oath" certificate on her office wall, although she needs to straighten it before her patients come in. Hippos are but one of Sandra's cute characters in her store. I have dozens of her images. I think my favorite one is of the three Stooges, although I have quite a few of her Santas (love them too).
Anyway, if you would like to have some fun and also wish Holley congratulations, go on over to her blog. Besides a lot of inspiration, you just might get lucky!

Spreading Love at the 12 Months of Christmas

Today I made a special Christmas card for my daughter. AND, I'm going to be smart this year and before I store it, I'm going to pop it into an envelope with her name on it so I don't go crazy looking for it when the holiday rolls around.
I used a digi from Mari Digis Stamps called A68 Merry Christmas 3. I also used some beautiful holiday paper from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles: Two papers from her new Winter World of Love Paper Kit and one from her A Touch of Frost Paper Kit.
When it comes down to it, Christmas is all about spending time with the people you love! Even if family members live far apart, most try to get together to spend a portion of the holidays together if they are able to. Family is precious. So are close friends for that matter. It is the people who are nearest and dearest to us in our lives that are always there for us, no matter what reason we may need them! Being able to enjoy their company at Christmas time makes those connections all the more special!
That is why this month the challenge theme at the 12 Months of Christmas Lin-Up is to create a card specifically for someone you love.  It could be for your partner or spouse, for your son or daughter, or your parents. Maybe you have an aunt or uncle that you are really close to, or perhaps there's a special friend in your life that means the world to you. It doesn't matter who you make the card for, just that it be for someone that you love very much. If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so you are included in the draw for the prize from our guest sponsor, Mari Digis

Please mention which particular loved one in your life you made the card for. If it isn't obvious, mention it in your post or write a note next to the link up for this challenge. Keep in mind that if you don't say who the loved one is, you will be exempt from qualifying for the prize.
Keep in mind though, that you don't need to follow the theme to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month or for a chance to win the featured paper set. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of the same three digis used by team members provided by Mari Digis. You can see them all at the main blog when you link up your own Christmas cards!
