4 Crafty Chicks Challenges Has All That Glitters

Today brings a new GDT make for 4 Crafty Chicks challenge blog. The theme is "All that Glitters" and I created a hybrid card. A hybrid card is the merging of digital and paper crafting. My paper crafting uses a digital image from Bugaboo called Dottie 2-Step, coloring her with Copics. I also printed out my sentiment. After adhering my image onto digital paper, I used Photoshop to complete my card. The details are below:
Copic-colored Image: Bugaboo’s Dottie 2-Step
Papers: Decosse’s Dynamite Doodles Grungy Christmas Textured Paper Kit, Red, & Glitterati Paper Kit, Gold; Bokeh Solid Color Set 1, Blue; Pixel Scrapper Marisa Lerin’s “Yesteryear” Paper 02
Sentiment: My Mind’s Eye Lil Cowpoke cardstock quote
Font: Rosewood Standard
Digital Elements: DeeDee’s Digis’”Happy Trails” stamp set- Wagon Wheel & Hat on Cactus; Pixel Scrapper Melo Vrijhof’s “Thankful Harvest Elements- Rope 2; Pixel Scrapper Pauline Thompson’s Star Brad 7 & Bright & Beautiful Glitter Scatter 1

Do you "do" digital? Or 100% paper-crafting? Or like me, creating hybrid canvases and cards? Whatever you create, link up to 4 Crafty Chicks to show off your art! Happy crafting!

Sending All My Love to You This Thanksgiving

It's always anything goes at Craft Your Passion challenge blog, and this week brings a new challenge with a new guest sponsor, DeeDee's Digis. I played with a digi set called Sending My Love. The set comes with: 1 outline image, 1 pre-colored image, 1 white-filled layering image, and 4 sentiments, in JPG and PNG file formats.
Sometimes when winter hits, I feel like this little guy. No matter how close your destination, it takes forever to get there. I'm worried about my son and his family now that they live in Wisconsin. It's only a two hour drive, but double that time when winter kicks in--or cancel a trip to visit family!
So I'm sending them all my love in a card this year, just in case Thanksgiving comes and goes and we don't get together. I am, however, grateful for whatever time we do spend together. My son got a rocky start to adulthood, hanging with a crowd that led him down a dark path. There were days when I didn't think he would be alive to graduate high school.
But he survived, went to college, joined the Army Reserves, met the love of his life, and has gifted me with not only a crafting daughter-in-law, but four grandsons and two granddaughters. The youngest one is not quite three months old.
No matter where my  children and their families will be in this whole wide world, I will always have them in my heart. And for that I am thankful.
You have a week to create anything your heart desires, and link it up at Craft Your Passion challenge blog. Have fun, crafters!
My project uses:
Image & sentiment: DeeDee's Digis-Sending My Love
Papers: Decosse's Dynamite Doodles Christmas Grunge in Blue; from Mischief Circus, Marta Van Eck's Winter Scene Papers; from Mischief Circus, Krysty Designs' Glitter Overlay #09
Embellishments: free clipart Snowflake; Kitten Scraps Nathalie MacKay-Kerr Three Ring Show Add-Ons, Build A Flower #52 & Blue Bead

Happy Halloween from the Farm, Y'all!

Well, here in Chicago, we got a late start to Autumn, but it has arrived! And my cards have changed their colors as well as the leaves ion the trees. The Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge blog has a new challenge: make a Halloween card or invitation.
I created this digital card using images from our guest sponsor this week, DeeDee's Digis. The more I play in Photoshop, the more I love it. I am still learning what I can do, but am loving it all.
What about you? Do use use Photoshop to create cards and layouts? I like a blend of the two, what is called hybrid crafting.
Whatever you do, have fun. And link up your project with the Outlawz Monday Greetings this week!!

The Living is Easy in Summer

Well, summer is almost over, and I can't say that I'll miss it much. I don't have younger children enjoying summer vacation, I don't have summer off, and the weather has been a little weird to totally enjoy the season. So, on to Fall, but I hope gradually, producing a glorious burst of colors and smells with a bountiful harvest to follow.
To celebrate all that summer was (and should have been), I created a card using the featured image at DeeDee's Digis. It's called Seasonal Baskets and includes 6 outline images (includes bonus "Empty Basket" image!), 5 pre-colored images, 5 white-filled layering images, and 3 sentiments, in JPG and PNG file formats. And crafters, this image set is half price right now, through the end of the month, for just $1.25!!
I received this image free, because DeeDee's Digis challenge blog hosts a progressive freebie challenge. When you use the featured image during the month and link up to the challenge blog, you receive the next month's free.
Back to my card - I used the pre-colored Summer Basket and popped it onto patterned paper. After framing it with both cardstock and a couple file tabs, I added another image from DeeDee's Digis, the black kitty. He's from the image set "Open Window." This is just one of the many things I love about digital images. You can pick and choose from several different sets if you wish.
Before I list the materials I used, why don't you check out the store at DeeDee's Digis. I hope you'll be interested enough by all that is offered there to start playing before the month is out, so you can start stacking up those free digis throughout the year. Have fun!
Materials used:
Images: Summer Basket from DeeDee's Digis Seasonal Baskets set; Black kitty from Open Window
Papers:  Patterned paper 1 from Misty Cato's Count the Days Freebie Pack, patterned paper freebie from Behance, Ruby textured paper from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles "Christmas Grunge" paper pack
Elements: Leaves, flowers & tab from Misty Cato Count the Days Pack, Bookplate from Sweetly Scrapped, Brads from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles

Take the Opportunity to Check Out the Path of Positivity

Another month means another awesome and thought-provoking challenge theme from the Path of Positivity challenge blog. This time the Path asks you to be inspired to show us your projects, thoughts and photos about Opportunity. I believe that each day is full of hidden opportunities; you just have to keep your eyes open and be aware. And remember that whether you take advantage of an opportunity or not, there is a lesson to be learned. You can grow with each encounter.
The guest sponsors for this month are Deedee's Digis and Oddball Art Co
Today I created a Swing card to highlight the changes that this little creature goes through to get where he should be all along. The image sheet is from DeeDee's Digis and is called Caity Caterpillar and comes with  2 outline images, 2 pre-colored images, 2 white-filled layering images, and 5 sentiments, in JPG and PNG file formats.
I colored my caterpillar and butterfly with Copics before popping them onto the "swing" section of my swing card. I cut one of the sentiments in half and placed them apart. My card is covered with patterned paper from the DCWV All Boys paper pad, and I embellished it all with jeweled flowers and butterflies. Here's a topside view of the swing card-it makes a pretty presentation when open.
This month's challenge at the Path of Positivity offers several ways to win prizes:
  • 3 images from Oddball Art Co., one of our guest sponsors this month, for the post or project that the DT deems most inspiring of the bunch.
  • A $25 gift certificate from Deedee's Digis, one of our guest sponsors this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.
There will also be:

One digital designer paper (made to order in a couple different ways) from Décosse's Dynamite Doodles for one lucky person who leaves a comment on posts published during the challenge timeframe.
One digital sentiment for every single person who enters the challenge.

It's Time for TIC-TAC-TOE at the Outlawz Challenges

I don't often create cards for guys, and yet I have so much fun doing so, you'd think I'd be whipping them out willy-nilly! LOL
Well, today I created this very masculine card for the Outlawz Greetings challenge. Their theme this week is to choose a line from the TIC-TAC-TOE Grid and create a project, anything, as long as it uses the three items in the TIC-TAC-TOE line you've chosen, and a Sentiment on the front.
I got to play with an awesome image set from Dee Dee's Digis called "Tool Time." This digital set includes: 9 outline images, 9 pre-colored images, 9 white-filled layering images, and 9 sentiments, in JPG and PNG file formats. All set elements have a resolution of 300 dpi/ppi, and are easily resizable to fit your crafting needs.
When a sentiment is broken into two parts, I like to create an easel card for a bigger impact, especially those zingers that make us smile or laugh. Here, I created the front of my card with the toolbox image, colored with my trusty Copics. I "framed" it with a few photo die-cuts and added the first part of the sentiment.
When standing up, the second part of the sentiment delivers the zinger, and I used the pre-colored image of a screwdriver to "bring it home."
I chose the TIC-TAC-TOE grid line that asks for "CHARM, IMAGE & WASHI TAPE." My charm is the tiny key on my toolbox, and I used the Washi tape like a ribbon running horizontally under my sentiments.
Now it's your turn to have a go at the Outlawz Greetings Tic-Tac-Toe challenge this week and create something to link up with us.

Found a Happy Place

Today I decided to create a scrapbook page for my last guest DT project for DeeDee's Digis. I have had a lot of creative fun while playing with some awesome image sets. Everyone who participates in their progressive challenges has a chance of becoming a Guest DT member. AND when you use the digi of the month, you will receive next month's digi for free!
Pictured above is my hubby during our road trip vacation to Siesta Key back in 2009. We tried Siesta Key again this Spring, but only my daughter and he enjoyed the vacation. I ended up with acute bronchitis and a sinus infection the day we got to our luxurious condo on the beach, and spent most of the time in bed.
I created this page using the following in Adobe Photoshop:
Elements from the following DeeDee’s Digis sets:
Monkey Business/ Paper Dots patterned paper
Beachy State of Mind/4 pre-colored images & sentiment
Christmas Grunge Textured papers/Royal Blue & Chocolate Brown
Button 2
Elements from Mischief Circus:

Will Work for Treats

Today's DT project for DeeDee's Digis uses images from two different sets, Dad's Day Off and Goody Jars. This lovable corgi comes from the Dad's Day Off set. This digital set includes: 3 outline images, 17 pre-colored images, 3 white-filled layering images, and 7 sentiments, in JPG and PNG file formats. All set elements have a resolution of 300 dpi/ppi, and are easily re-sizable to fit your crafting needs.

I printed the pre-colored image twice and used pop dots to give him dimension. The rest of the images come from the set Goody JarsThis digital set includes: 16 outline images, 39 pre-colored images (some images in multiple colors), and 16 white-filled layering images, in JPG and PNG file formats. All set elements have a resolution of 300 dpi/ppi, and are easily resizable to fit your crafting needs.
I played around in Photoshop and "filled" a jar with dog treats, then printed twice (again for some dimension). A few extra doggie treats, a bit larger, embellish my sentiment (snagged from thequotegarden.com) and my card is finished.
DeeDee's Digis has so many sets that can be mixed and matched to fit anyone's style or need. Why don't you check them out? There's sure to be something (a lot of somethings) that tweeks your muse!

We All Scream for Ice Cream

There's some fun over at DeeDee's Digis blog. They're hosting a progressive challenge. All you have to do to join in the fun is create a project with this month's featured image. That would be Ice Cream Truck, a very popular vehicle throughout these hot, sunny days. LOL
Once you link up your project, the next month's featured set will be sent to you FOR FREE!! Now who doesn't like FREE?! I know I do!
This digital set includes: 3 outline images, 9 pre-colored images, 3 white-filled layering images, and 6 sentiments, in JPG and PNG file formats. All set elements have a resolution of 300 dpi/ppi, and are easily resizable to fit your crafting needs.
I printed out four pre-colored images of bears and set them as compass points to the corners of my shaped card. My sentiment is the focal point, and I used a few flowers and brads from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.
If you want in on next month's freebie, get to the store quick. It's still half price, but I don't know how long that will last. And as always, crafters, have fun!

DeeDee's Digis Sponsors This Week's CYP Challenge

The flowers are in full bloom here in Chicago, despite the weird wishy-washy weather we've been having. And to celebrate the beautiful colors of summer, I created a Birthday card for my girlfriend, who lost her job last week. Craft Your Passion has a new challenge starting today, and the guest sponsor is DeeDee's Digis.
I got to play with a digi sheet called Spring Blocks, which comes with outline, layering and colored images, and sentiments.
I printed out four of the images and placed them in a a square design, using pop dots for dimension. I embossed my sentiment, and added a few lines of pearls on each block to embellish. It's a nice bright summery card for my friend. The sentiment inside reads: "May your day bloom with wonderful surprises" I hope she gets them, too, as she has a number of interviews set up for a new job! Wish her luck.
Now it's time for you to create something fun and link it up with Craft Your Passion challenge blog this week. Happy crafting!

Note Card Sets Make Great Gifts

Here's my guest DT project for this week, being showcased at DeeDee's Digis blog. I got to play with the digi sheet called Spring Blocks. This digital set includes: 5 outline images, 5 pre-colored images, 5 white-filled layering images, and 5 sentiments, in JPG and PNG file formats. All set elements have a resolution of 300 dpi/ppi, and are easily resizable to fit your crafting needs.
I used 4 of the 5 pre-colored blocks to make note cards with matching envelopes. I love digi images because you can print them off in different sizes. I actually printed them in three different sizes. The smallest went on the envelopes; I popped the largest-sized images onto my cards, and the middle-sized ones went into a different project.
Here is a close-up of one of my cards. I used the same sentiment for each, embellishing each card with pearls at each corner and jeweled butterflies-simple and sweet. (The white lines in the graphic design of my background paper is glittery, but the camera didn't pick it up)
My neighbor had another stroke, and she can't craft like she used to. I made her a get well card, and she liked it, so I think she'll get a kick out of using these.
Meanwhile, check out DeeDee's blog for inspiration. don't forget to visit her shop, where inspiration meets beautiful and very affordable digital images. Don't forget to let her know Patacake sent you!!

Your Scrapbook Place Midway Challenge Reminder

Today marks the halfway point in Your Scrapbook Place June challenge. Our sponsor this month is DeeDee's Digis, and I got to play with a sheet of images called Coffee Cup Greetings.
Today I mixed digital and paper crafting together to create this card. In Photoshop, I used three pre-colored coffee cup images, adding parts of my sentiment onto each cup. My patterned paper is a digi delight from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. Once I had the background paper and the cups sized right, I printed and cut them out.
In order to stack my cups, I used an Exacto knife to cut slits in the tops of my two bottom cups, slipping each into the slits. The rest was just a matter of finding the right embellishments. I am meeting my girlfriend for lunch on Friday. I haven't seen her in months. Since our kids have grown up, we seem to be busier than we ever were before! Both her son and my daughter are in college now, and we have full-time jobs, so there are no more free days when we'd get together for a play date, or spend the morning at the local thrift store together.
So I wanted a card to give her this week that would let her know that, while we may not see each other often, her presence is very much known to me, and I appreciate her being there.
Now it's time for you to join in the fun at Your Scrapbook Place challenge blog. If you need some inspiration, head on over to DeeDee's Digis blog. And as always, crafters, have fun!

New Challenge at SBP Challenge Blog Sponsored by DeeDee's Digis

I love an Anything Goes Challenge, and I love playing with DeeDee's Digis, which is this month's sponsor at Your Scrapbook Place challenge blog.
Since I am on a family vacation, I had scheduled this post to run while I was gone. I had created a 100% digital card to print up anytime and send to anyone. I sent it to one to my fave sisters-in-law, Treasa. She and Jill really know how to whip up some holiday deliciousness. Not to mention the fact that both if them are Vets of Dessert Storm.
While it is easy to think of the holidays as a time to entertain and eat goodness, this Memorial Day I spent with my Dad, Gram and Grampa, who are together in heaven, as well as being near each other at the cemetery. Some fresh flowers, a little conversation and some great memories were brought out, and my Memorial Day was complete. Hope yours was too!
Now, spend a little YOU time in your favorite craft area and create something for the Anything Goes challenge over at Your Scrapbook Place. And don't forget to have fun!

100% Digital Today for One Lucky Dad

One of my New Year's Resolutions, way back on January 1st, was to teach myself Adobe Photoshop. I have been hard at play, I mean work, digitally crafting with some very awesome digi images, papers and elements from some of my favorite designers.
Today I created this fun Father's Day card using images from Dee Dee's Digis set Dad's Day Off. The set comes with:
3 outline images, 17 pre-colored images, 3 white-filled layering images, and 7 sentiments, in JPG and PNG file formats.
To set the scene, I used a background from the Marta Vaneck Curiosity Cabinet set of background papers. I framed it and my sentiment with a gold frame element from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles, embellishing one corner with a few musically-themed sunflowers and teal buttons from Decosse's as well.
And to bring back the reference to my resolution, my card today is 100% digital!! In finishing this project, I realize I need to invest in some elements that will bring my cards and such to a higher level, things like shadowing effects and a whole lot more embellishments!
Meanwhile, I am entering my card into DeeDee's Digis Challenge Blog. It's a progressive challenge, so as long as you create with the Digi of the Month, you will get the next month's image set FREE! And who doesn't like FREE?!

Celebrate Mom at the Outlawz Greetings challenges

Just wanted to show off the CAS card I gave my mom yesterday. I used some digi goodness from DeeDee's Digis, one of this month's sponsors at the Outlawz Greetings challenges. The set is called Blooming Blessings and comes with 4 outline images, 4 pre-colored images, 4 white-filled layering images, and 4 sentiments, in JPG and PNG formats.
I created my square card base using an oversized patterned tag from K & Co. The images used from DeeDee's includes a colored frame and three colored bouquets. The golden yellow background paper and green brads are from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. Once I put the two forms of crafting together, I added a few jeweled butterflies, some ribbon trim with sparkle and a couple very thing gold lines and my card is complete.
Come show us what you've made this week at the Outlawz Greetings challenge, where the theme is Mother's Day and you always must have a greeting or sentiment on the front of your project.

Persevere in This Month's Challenge at the Path of Positivity

I think that the quote, "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade" is the strongest argument that perseverance is what changes a failed attempt into success. And perseverance is the theme of this month's Path of Positivity challenge.
Personally, I persevered in my attempts to master Adobe Photoshop. Of course, I am still a virtual newbie, but I managed to make this 100% digital project using a DeeDee's Digis set called Lemonade Stand. Besides one of the several colored digis, I used both patterned papers. The sentiment comes from the fonts in Photoshop, and the brads and golden yellow background paper are from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.
The sponsors and prizes for this challenge are:
*A $10 gift certificate from Ike's Art, one of our guest sponsors this month, for the post or project that the DT deems most inspiring of the bunch.
  • A $25 gift certificate from Deedee's Digis, one of our guest sponsors this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

There will also  be:
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital Stamps for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

Using DeeDee's Digis at Craft Your Passion Challenge Blog

Anything Goes (always) at Craft Your Passion challenge blog, and today starts another new chance to be a winner!'
The sponsor this week is Dee Dee's Digis and the image is called Open Window, which come with layering, outline and colored window images. In addition, there are several cute images to place in the window, like a kitten, a jack-o-lantern,, a pitcher of lemonade and more.
I decided to color my puppy with Copics and add him to my 3D window. I printed my window twice, fussy-cutting it out and very carefully using wide silk ribbon to "hang" my curtains. The patterned papers are from Prima.
I printed my sentiment using Microsoft Word, then tore it out and inked it to coordinate with the brick facade. To finish my card, I sprinkled a few pearls.
You have all week to play in Craft Your Passion's challenge, so have fun crafting!!

Love Is in the Air at the Outlawz Greetings CHallenge

This week I am still making and sending Valentine's cards to my good friends. Which is perfect for the Outlawz Greetings challenge that starts today - Make a card about LOVE or using RED, WHITE AND PINK. I made a Z-fold card using a digi image called Time with You by DeeDee's Digis. DeeDee's is one of the Outlawz Greetings sponsors this month. As you can see above, part of my image is just peeking from the inside of the card. When opened you see the whole thing.
The clock came with several sentiments. I cut mine apart so that it could grace both the outside AND inside of my card. It reads: I love spending time with you. I colored my image with Copics, added a little shimmer, then framed each word with cardstock before adhering it to my card. I used bakers' twine to give the card balance by attaching the first part of my sentiment to several tiny hearts that I punched from scraps of leftover papers, and finally to the cute bunny holding onto the last heart. I embellished with a few cardstock stickers and doodled a border around the edges.
I'm sending this card to my daughter-in-law, who has captured my heart with her commitment to my son almost two years ago.
In the mood to make a new card? Try the LOVE theme, or use pink, red and white and come pay in the Outlawz Greetings challenge this week.

There's Something in Your Pocket!

Today starts a new Anything Goes challenge at Craft Your Passion, and DeeDee's Digis is sponsoring us this week! She's offering a prize of a $15 Gift Code to Deedee's Digis store. That's a lot of digi's!! Thank you, DeeDee's Digis!!
I got to play with an image from the Pocket Pal Frog sheet. There are outline and colored images in the set, as well as papers and sentiments. I used the outline image so that I could take out my Copics  and have my way with them. I also used the Pink paper, some Stripe paper and one of the sentiments.
I printed all of them twice so that I could cut out and adhere a select few with dimensional tape.
This sentiment is one of my favorites, and so true. Just like my favorite pair of jeans (with 7 pockets), I can never have too many friends. My whole card reminds me of an old Christmas movie starring Glen Ford and Hope Lange, titled "Pocketful of Miracles." One of the themes of the story revolves around friends coming to the rescue of an apple cart vendor, played by the great Bette Davis.
Now it's your turn to play in Craft Your Passion's newest challenge!! Follow the rules for your chance to win that fabulous gift code!!
