Make It Glitter and Shimmer on the Outlawz Greetings Challenge

I had fun today making a card for the Outlawz Greetings challenge. The challenge is to make a card with a sentiment and put some glitter & shimmer on it.
The sponsor this week is Creative Bug Designs, and I got to play with a cute image called "Bed Jumping Sock Monkeys." I grew up with a love for chimps, and used to watch Curious George all the time. Of course, as soon as I saw this image, the children's rhyme came to mind (and never left, to my regret).
I started out with an awesome patterned card front from DCWV. After coloring my image, I decided to embellish with jeweled flourishes, and went a little crazy, but that's my shimmery part of the card. I added some glitter polish on the bed linens for the glittery part of the challenge. I typed up my sentiment using Microsoft Word, putting the rest of the rhyme on the inside of the card.
I thought my card would make a cute get well card for a child, like maybe if my granddaughter Bella got sick, I could mail it to her. I think she'd like it.
And you will like all the inspiration you'll find at the Outlawz Greetings this week. Go check them out  and come play with us!

Paper Piecing is Not My Thing, but...

Paper piecing is generally not my thing, but I don't back down on a challenge-not when it gives me a chance to stretch out of my comfort zone and grow in creativity. So I DIDN'T color up an image from Ike's Art called "New Baby." What I did was printed it on patterned papers, and pieced it together.
After frantically searching for papers that would try to realistically feature the mother's hand and baby's feet, I stopped, took a breath and laughed at myself. "Come on Pat," I told myself. "You are reaching out of your little creative box, so why bother with realism?" my goodness, I didn't know I was so wise! LOL
So I picked a paper with word art themed around the entity we call mom; then I chose another paper to coordinate, and my image is pieced! I added a sweet sentiment and framed it with a paper doily. Hmm, too plain on that card stock background (my next battle will be with white space). So I popped on some cute baby-themed buttons, that lovely border of trim. Not enough! so I doodled a few tiny white hearts on any un-embellished space and my card was finished.
I am entering my card in Ike's World Challenges blog. The theme is paper piecing and I double dog dare you to play along!! LOL
And remember, crafters--have fun!!

You're My Serendipity

You never know who you're going to meet on the path of life. Sometimes that chance meeting changes your whole direction. And when it results in good fortune, then you recognize your experience as a brush with Serendipity.
This month the Path of Positivity challenges us to create a project with a serendipitous theme. My mixed media canvas represents my meeting with serendipity when my husband came home and told me in no uncertain terms that he needed to get away from work. With only a moment's notice, I was able to book us on a cruise that got him relaxed and me pregnant--ten years after my one and only pregnancy that gifted us with a son (ten years!).
That serendipitous experience led to my now 19 year old daughter, a crafter, a write, a college student and my best friend.
...and I am just so lucky.
The Path of Positivity is sponsored this month by Sami Stamps:

and Luna Girl:

I got to play with an image from Sami Stamps called Two Smiles. As soon as I saw it, I knew just the serendipitous experience I would write about (I have been blessed with so many).
I colored my image with Copics, cut it out, and adhered it to my canvas (already covered with streamers of tissue paper, paint and ModPodge). The hearts represent my love for my daughter. The butterfly is a symbol of her finding her own wings. The many jewels decorating the canvas is for the light she brings to my life.
I gave her this canvas tonight, and she loves it...and I am just so lucky.
Please come join us on our path. You'll see plenty of inspiration and a bit of positivity, and by participating in the challenge, have a chance to win some awesome prizes:
  • A $12 gift certificate from Sami Stamps, one of our guest sponsors this month, for the post or project that the DT deems most inspiring of the bunch.
  • A $15 gift certificate from Lunagirl, one of our guest sponsors this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.
  • One digital designer paper (made to order in a couple different ways) from Décosse's Dynamite Doodles for one lucky voter who leaves a comment, and
  • One digital sentiment for every single person who enters the challenge.
The Path if Positivity challenge log is featuring Stephanie of Steph's Scrap Happenings, as their guest DT member this month. Be sure to stop by her blog and leave a little positivity!

Gender Reveal Invitation for Craft Your Passion Challenge Blog

Today brings another Anything Goes challenge from Craft Your Passion. The sponsor this week is A Day for Daisies, and I used an image from their store called Blankie.
I printed my image twice, then colored one with a pink blankie and one with a blue blankie. I was asked to make an invitation for my daughter-in-law's Gender Reveal Party, which I am also hosting. We won't know until that party what gender the baby is! I'm so excited to be a grandma again, and my son is thrilled to add another child to his already large family (4 from her & 1 from his ex).
Anyway, After coloring my images with Copics, I popped the two onto my card front, embellishing with lace, ribbon bows and a couple baby-themed buttons.
The inside gives the details and directions for the party. There will be games with prizes, and a photo opp that will have everyone screaming with laughter, and of course the cake, whose inside has been food colored to match the gender of baby Martin: blue if a boy, or pink if a girl. The party is this month!
Meanwhile, get your crafting mojo on, and come play in Craft Your Passion's Anything Goes challenge this week!

Anything Goes with an Extra Fold

Today brings a new challenge to the Outlawz Greetings. This week you are asked to use an extra fold in your card or project. I made an easel card, so my card front folds down, resting on the card inside.
One of this month's sponsors is Bugaboo, and as soon as I saw this funky chicken, I knew I had to play with it. The image is called Kitchen - Chicken Soup. While chicken soup may be the standard for making the sick feel better, I thought it a little odd that a chicken would be tasting, well, chicken soup!!  And so my sentiment was born..."Sick people should not self-medicate." Inspiration comes from the most unusual places, doesn't it?! LOL
SO, run, don't walk, to your craft area and make a card or project with a sentiment and an extra fold! Show us what you got!! Challenge runs until Sunday night--good luck, and have fun, crafters!
