On the 15th Day of Christmas Crafting...

Hello, crafters! Today I offer you a hybrid canvas. It's a cross stitch canvas stretched onto a wooden frame, with a painted background and stitches using embroidery thread. I also embellished my canvas with a felt wiener dog, a sticker (bells) and small sequins for tree ornaments. The branches and the ribbons and bows on the presents showcase my stitching. I guess you can call it a mixed media project!

Layer Up at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog

It's time for a new challenge at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog. And they want us to grab our papers and layer it up! That's right, no less than three layers on your cards, crafters. My layers include a stitched piece of cardstock, framing of  my images with black cardstock, and my images and sentiments (doesn't include the actual white cardstock base, which is peeking through the heart-shaped die-cuts.
The Scribbles Designs image I chose to use is #618 Flower 1 at the Scribbles Store. I printed it 3 times in three different colors to make a triptych look to my card. The challenge runs from February 15th until March 14th and one winner will receive a gift certificate to the Scribbles Designs Store. So don't forget to link up your cards to Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog for your chance to win!!
Have fun, crafters!

Getting Edgy at the Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge

Good morning, crafters! I thought I would create a card that embodies my feelings about Mondays. Or rather, how I used to feel about Mondays. Nowadays, I enjoy three-day weekends, AND I publish a couple DT projects on Mondays as well. So, this card is for all your crafters out there who still have to trudge to work on Mondays.
I used a digi image called Original Morning Goddess from Rick St Dennis, who, by the way, is sponsoring this week's challenge at the Outlawz Monday Greetings this week along with Bugaboo. The new theme for the this week's challenge is to use some edging on your project (along with a greeting or sentiment). I edged my CAS card with both real and faux stitching. I am not usually a lover of white space, so this card may seem "full"  to some, but it was definitely difficult to leave my card this clean and simple. I really like the vivid contrast of black and white on my card.
Challenges I am Entering:
CAS on Sunday - Real stitching
Come & Get It - Card for a Woman
Since I have those lovely three-day weekends, I was able to create a second inspiration card using a digital image from Bugaboo called Ava Flowers.
For this card, I used adhesive-backed pearls to edge around my card. I colored my image with Copics, and punched a pretty border on my sentiment before backing it with cardstock. Isn't Ava so pretty? I love the Duncan and Ava collection of images that Bugaboo offers.
I hope you'll have time this week to drop in and join us at the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge for your chance to win prizes. And have an awesome Monday!!

It's Quirky Raining Cats & Dogs This Month

In the northern half of the globe, April is a month of warmer weather and rain showers. Well, the Quirky Challenges blog has put a quirky spin on the showers. This month's theme is "It's Raining Cats & Dogs," Show us a project with a cat or dog or both!
This month's sponsor is Crackerbox Palace. They offer a wide variety of wood-backed rubber stamps. I got to play with a stamp called Hang on Cat. As soon as I saw it, I knew it related to how I felt eery Monday. Although...now I have Mondays off, so this would be how I feel on Tuesdays. But I'm not sending a card to myself, so most people will relate to the "Monday attitude." LOL
While at my local thrift store, I snagged an almost full paper pad of cat/dog patterned paper from DCWV for 50 cents. So I popped a piece onto a stitched card face, hung my cat, and added my sentiment and some ribbon.
Now it's your turn-Don't forget to link up for your chance to win prizes!

Forget Me Not

Welcome to a new challenge at Craft Your Passion challenge blog. This week's sponsor is The East Wind, and the lovely digital image I got to play with is called Aurora Forget-Me-Not. After coloring her with Copics, I popped her onto a card face with stitched edges. I added a big old moon for her to gaze at and added a few hand-drawn stars. I added coordinating fibers in red before finishing off my card with a well-known quote.
We haven't seen the moon for quite a few days near Chicago due to the overcast skies. But I sure love to see that old devil moon looking down on me on those clear nights. Some people wish upon stars, but I love to make wishes on the moon.
The challenge this week is Anything Goes, and we would love to see what you create. Link up at the challenge blog for your chance to win three digis from The East Wind. Meanwhile, check out the inspiration from all the DT this week! And as always, crafters, have fun!

Earth Laughs in Flowers

A new month brings warmer weather in my part of the world, and a new challenge at the Outlawz Progessive Freebie challenges. If you played in last month's challenge, you will receive this lovely image from Anne's Digital Art. It is called Poppies.
After coloring my flower with Copics, I sponged a little sky blue onto my background. I popped it onto some textured paper, doodling in the faux stitching on the edges, then stamping my sentiment.
I added this to my stitched card front and added a tiny butterfly charm and my card is complete. I love this time of year, when flowers are just starting to bloom and colors abound everywhere you look. And the scents are heavenly! I just wish I didn't have so many allergies. Do you suppose they have anything to do with the flowers?! LOL
Please check out all the lovely work from the DT today at the Outlawz Progressive Freebie challenge. If you missed last month's challenge, the image is available from Anne's Digital Art. You can purchase it and come play with us, and then next month's image will be free to you!!
Whatever you do, have fun doing it!!
