Creating with a Quirky Flower Theme

If it's your birthday today, I hope it blooms with wonderful surprises! That is the sentiment inside my DT card for Quirky Crafts Challenge blog today. I got to play with a digi image called Peekaboo Lulu
from Bloobel Stamps. I colored her with Copics, then cut out the inside of the circle fro which she is peeking. After backing the image with purple paper from my stash, I cut a circle slightly larger than the image and "framed" her with it. Besides the flowers in the patterned paper, I adhered an assortment of jeweled flowers around the border. (Can you tell that the thee over at Quirky Crafts challenges is FLOWERS?! lol
A line of lacy border, a handmade bow and my birthday greeting finishes off my card. I hope it inspires you to create with flowers this month and enter the challenge. There are three sponsors in May, which means more bang for your buck, or rather more chances to be a winner. Besides Bloobel Stamps, the challenge is sponsored by Ike's Art and Delicious Doodles.
Happy crafting!

Quirky Challenge Reminder

Hello, crafters! I have been playing in my craft room and have created a hybrid layout. When I write hybrid, I mean that I used a digital image and colored it with my Copics, then used it to frame a photograph. I finished off my page digitally.
I created my page for this month's challenge over at Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog, where the challenge is FLOWERS. There are THREE sponsors this month, which means extra chance to win prizes in May. My image comes from Delicious Doodles and is called Daisies & Butterfly Frame.

Here is what went into my scrapbook layout today:
Delicious Doodles Daisies & Butterfly Frame
Pixel Scrapper Violet Irisovna’s Bright Days Extra Papers Solid Green
Pixel Scrapper Pauline Thompson’s Bright Beautiful Artsy Paper 1; Eroded Hues Glitter element
Pixel Scrapper Bunting 1
Pixel Scrapper Janet Scott’s Strawberry Fields Stitch 2; Let’s Get Festive Green Stitches; Let’s Get Festive Green Sequins Scatter
Pixel Scrapper Marisa Lerin’s Special Day Leaf 5; Festive Flowers 173 Orange

Besides Delicious Doodles
our sponsors include Ike's Art

and Bloobel Stamps.
Hope you get to craft this month--if you do, don't forget to create with flowers for your chance to win prizes when you link up at Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog. See you there!

It's Quirky Raining Cats & Dogs This Month

In the northern half of the globe, April is a month of warmer weather and rain showers. Well, the Quirky Challenges blog has put a quirky spin on the showers. This month's theme is "It's Raining Cats & Dogs," Show us a project with a cat or dog or both!
This month's sponsor is Crackerbox Palace. They offer a wide variety of wood-backed rubber stamps. I got to play with a stamp called Hang on Cat. As soon as I saw it, I knew it related to how I felt eery Monday. Although...now I have Mondays off, so this would be how I feel on Tuesdays. But I'm not sending a card to myself, so most people will relate to the "Monday attitude." LOL
While at my local thrift store, I snagged an almost full paper pad of cat/dog patterned paper from DCWV for 50 cents. So I popped a piece onto a stitched card face, hung my cat, and added my sentiment and some ribbon.
Now it's your turn-Don't forget to link up for your chance to win prizes!

It's Raining Quirky Dogs and Cats

Just a reminder that the new Quirky challenge is to use a dog or a cat on your project this month. Sponsor is Crackerbox Palace Stamps, and I made an easel card with Crackerbox Palace's "Spot the Dog"
I love easel cards, especially when I have a "two-part" sentiment. Above is my card closed, the way it would look coming out of an envelope. I love the expression on Spot's face, don't you?!
Below is the card open with my punchline. This is what our silkie terrier, Wilson, thinks every time someone goes into the kitchen. Although he will go for a walk just as many times as he would like to eat. The boy can walk!!!
Get your hairy or furry muse working and create a card or project with the theme of dog/cat. Then link up at the Quirky Crafts challenge blog this month for your chance to win prizes!

It's Raining Quirky Cats & Dogs

Welcome back to another Quirky challenge! This month you are asked to create something with a  Cats & Dogs theme. Our sponsor is Crackerbox Palace Digital Stamps.
I got to play with an image called "Peeking Cat." I colored my kitty with Copics, then added her onto my card face. A simple ribbon border and jeweled flourishes decorate my card. I printed my sentiment in Adobe Photoshop using Butch font from the Hungry Jpeg.
Quirky challenges run monthly starting on the first Sunday of the month, so you have time to let those creative juices flow. Think muddy paws and kitten cuddles, wagging tails and purring greetings. Then link up your creations with us at Quirky Crafts challenge blog!
Happy crafting!

Let's Get Quirky Pink (or Red) with Black & White

I'm back with a midway challenge reminder for Quirky Crafts today. The monthly challenge is to use PINK or RED with Black & White. Sponsoring this challenge is The Cutting Cafe, who generously allowed the DT to play with two sets:
Bendi Card, which comes with 1 main BENDY CARD template that will fit inside of a A2 sized envelope (with the card laying flat), 5 Assorted backs for the card,2 Assorted fronts for the card, 5 Printable sentiments (in PDF and JPEG formats), 9 Word Sentiments, 5 Assorted borders in large and small sizes (flowers, hearts, double hearts, fence, butterflies). The cutting files come in: PDF, SVG, MTC and WPC; and
Wheelbarrow Deliveries Printable Set, which comes with 2 different wheelbarrows (with a few separate cutting templates to paper-piece the wheelbarrow (in the following formats: PDF, SVG, MTC and WPC), 10 different fillers for the wheelbarrow and 20 Sentiments.
I decided to create a Bendi Card using Wheelbarrow for a double whammy! I printed out the tilted wheelbarrow, 2 sets of hearts, and 2 sentiments. I had already printed out the Bendy Card templates to cut out my card pieces, since I don't have a cutting system that reads SVG files or the like. But as you can see, the PDF files work just fine!
Using my stash leftovers, I kept a Pink with Black & white color scheme. There are so many patterns and elements that I embellished simply with a pale pink bow and a few small heart stickers.
I know that Valentine's Day is over, but there are plenty of family to whom I can send this card.
Got any pink or red left in your stash? Then create with it and share your project during the month of February for your chance to win prizes from The Cutting Cafe!

My First Bendi Card

Welcome back to another new challenge from Quirky Crafts challenge blog. This month our gracious sponsor is The Cutting Cafe, which is a new experience for me. I think I have a new favorite site, even if I don't have cutting software. When you buy from The Cutting Cafe, you get several different formats of cutting files as well as printable templates, which I used on my card today.
I used a cutting file called Bendi Card Template, which includes: 1 main BENDY CARD template that will fit inside of a A2 sized envelope (with the card laying flat), 5 Assorted backs for the card,
2 Assorted fronts for the card, 5 Printable sentiments (in PDF and JPEG formats), 9 Word Sentiments, 5 Assorted borders in large and small sizes (flowers, hearts, double hearts, fence, butterflies). The cutting files come in: PDF, SVG, MTC and WPC. I scored my side "flaps" with my trusty ScorPal, which has become a true life saver for me in all my card-making ventures.
The challenge theme over at Quirky Challenges is to use RED OR PINK with Black & White. After using the templates to cut my layers for the card, I cut to size some pink patterned papers from my stash. I colored a digital image from Ike's Art called "My Teddy" and added a sentiment sticker. I embellished with a large jeweled flower, a cloth flower and the word Love from a DCWV booklet of sentiments from the Wedding/Love stack.
I like the way my card turned out-I've always wanted to try one of these cards, and now I think you'll be seeing a lot of these in the future LOL The Cutting Cafe also offers images, and I'll be creating with one of them for the midway reminder at Quirky Crafts later this month. Meanwhile, our sponsor has generously offered 3 sets to the 1st Place winner, 2 sets from the 2nd Place winner and 1 set to the 3rd Place winner, all from the Cutting Cafe.

Now it's your turn to create with Red OR Pink and Black & White. Can't wait to see what you come up with! Need inspiration? Check out the lovely creations at The Cutting Cafe Blog.

A New Year Brings a New Challenge at Quirky Crafts

Oh what fun it is to Celebrate a birthday, especially when your cake is almost as big as you are! My girlfriend had a baby boy last year and it is coming up on his birthday, so this digital image from Stitchy Bear, called BBKakes Birthday Boy 1, is perfect for the child's personality. He's not afraid of getting a little messy, especially if the mess is made of sugar!!
Welcome to Quirky Crafts new challenge, the first in 2016. With the New Year comes changes, and I am one of them, being blessed to have been invited to create as a DT member. Another change is that Quirky challenges will now be monthly, starting on the first Sunday of each month.
So to start the new challenge, the theme is Celebrations! Make your card something to celebrate or to give in celebration of something-and don't forget to use the words celebrate or celebration on your card. I colored my Stitchy Bear digi with Copics, while the embossed sentiment on the left is from Stampin Up!
In keeping with my promise to use up my stash, everything on my card was a leftover piece of paper, ribbon, letters, even the feather was from a container I had stashed away in my craft closet! Do you have a New Year's Resolution that is "crafty"? Mine from 2015 was to use up my stash, and I'm going to have to extend it into 2016. I have a ROOM full of "stash" from which to create.
Here's wishing you a Happy New Year, filled with stamping, painting, altering, water coloring and all that fun stuff! Don't forget to link your card or project with Quirky Crafts challenge blog for your chance to win free digis:
1st prize: 3 images of choice from the entire Stitchy Bear store
2nd prize: any 3 images used by the DT
3rd Prize: any 2 images used by the DT
