Anything Goes at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog

I've been waiting for an Anything Goes challenge so that I can incorporate my two favorite crafting techniques into one project - fluid acrylic painting and digital image coloring. Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog opened the door to the canvas above.

I had just created the painting and started to varnish it for that shinier than shiny finish when I decided to use it for my DT make for Scribbles Designs. I thought the white paint looked like waves in a choppy sea, so I colored up "Sailboat 1" from the Scribbles Store with my trusty Copics. The sentiment is a favorite of mine, and seemed perfect for my canvas.

I used Liquitex Gloss Varnish (two coats) to seal the cardstock image and painted words. That sailboat just pops from the canvas, don't you think? It's 10"x20", so makes a nice focal point on my wall. I love how my acrylic paint flowed around my canvas, creating an intense background for my scene.

The sky's the limit at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog, and you have until the 14th of July to create and link up your cards and projects for your chance to win some awesome digis from the Scribbles Store. Hope to see you there!

Baby, It's Cold at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog

Welcome to a new challenge at Scribbles Designs! It's the middle of February, and if you live in the northern hemisphere, that means cold days and colder nights - Brrr! So Scribbles would like to see your creations, inspired by the winter weather.
I created this fun step card using several digi images from Scribbles Designs: Free Snow Sign, Bunny Bum, Cat and Snow Kisses. The edge of each "step" has been sprinkled by faux snow, something you can make by rubbing two Styrofoam balls together and gathering up the "flakes". Except for my background paper, Rolling Hills patterned paper from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles' Snow Much Fun Paper Kit, the rest is from my stash.
What's your winter weather look like? Be inspired by looking out your window and link a project up to Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog for your chance to win free digis from the Scribbles store. See you there!!

Moonlight Persuasion

I love looking out to sea.  I love watching the waves dance and following the ripples of moonlight as the water moves.  I love how the moon looks so enormous over the water, taking up so much of the sky.
I decided to give my card that "midnight on the ocean" look by using these dark blue patterned papers from CTMH.  The dotted swirls almost look like waves, so I added some clear diamond Stickles to some of them  to imitate the moon's shimmer.
The image was stamped using a Queen Kat Designs stamp from artist Terra Bidlespacher called Porcelain Mermaid.
I printed the quote on my computer, taken from quotegarden.com.  It reads, "Take your shoes off," purred the ocean waves.
Then I stepped back and looked the card over.  It was sooooo plain!!  I like a clean and simple card, but it was sooooo plain.  So I added the midnight blue fiber across the sky, and I can stop there and call it finished.
Do you have any mermaid stamps that you can play with?  You'll find bunches of them over at Queen Kat Designs, along with fairies and elves and dragons and all the fantasy characters your heart desires!!  Have fun, and keep crafting!!
