Musically-Inclined at the Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenges

Greetings, crafters! A new challenge is starting today at the Outlawz Monday Greetings and the theme is Music. I  created a card for my true love--we'll be married 40 years in September, so I used the song Thousand Years sung by Christina Perri. You can listen to it HERE.
This week, Decosse's Dynamite Doodles sponsors the challenge, and I got to play with some patterned paper from Lisa's Familiar Refrain Patterned Paper Kit. I used a golden overlay from Krysty Designs before framing my card face with black cardstock. I used another Decosse paper from her A Grungy Christmas Textured Paper Kit to print out a couple lines from the song that inspired me, cutting it out and making it my focal point. A bit of lace and a charm were added as simple embellishments and mt card is finished.
I love plying with papers from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles so much that I made a second card.
This time I created a 100% digital canvas/card using the same patterned paper from Lisa Decosse along with images from Happy Trails, a digital set by Dee Anderson of Dee Dee's Digis and embellishments from the following Pixel Scrapper designers:
Melo Vrijhof’s Thankful Harvest Elements, Rope 2 and
 Pauline Thompson’s Star Brad 7
My sentiment includes a couple lines from an old camp song in Black Betty Font.

Another sponsor this week is Bloobel with its quirky and funny images. My card above showcases an image called Birdy in a Tree. Teal is my go-to color, so I tend to grab papers and embellishments that coordinate in the many shades of teal. This will go to one of the several young women who have been graduated this year.
Finally (yes, I have been busy!) I created a calendar page for my desktop calendar.

I colored up another Bloobel image, Flootiful, and paired her with 4th of July embellishments.
My daughter was born on the 4th of July, and for years she thought she was very special because there were parades, carnivals and fireworks for her birthday. She is very special, because she has grown up to be a caring, generous and intelligent young woman. Happy Birthday, Wendy!!

Your Wish Is My Command on Father's Day

Another Monday means another challenge at the Outlawz Greetings challenges. This week's theme is Father's Day. Make something for your dad, the father of your children, or dads in general. I made this card for my hubby, who helped raise two children, each with their unique challenges, and survived (although he went totally grey in the process).
At the Outlawz Greetings, this week's sponsor is Rick St Dennis. Rick's images run the gamut from funny to vintage to freaky. There's always something for everyone!
I got to play with a digi image called Tim BukTu. I colored her with Copics, shimmered it up with Sakura Gel pen, and popped it onto a tag I created earlier in the year and never used. I used a rainbow of colors to create my card, but I like the combination (and that white feather doesn't hurt, either).
In line with the Father's Day theme, I added the sentiment "It's Your Day!" to my card. One requirement of all challenges is to have a sentiment or greeting on the front of your project. Inside my card is a standard Happy Father's Day sentiment, with a little love note from me.
Now it's your turn. Check out the inspiration at the Outlawz Greetings and then create and link up your project for a chance to win free digis from Rick St Dennis.

Another Sublime Challenge at the Outlawz Greetings

The only thing more sublime than a conversation between a fairy and a ladybug is an Anything Goes challenge! That's the new challenge this week at the Outlawz Greetings. This week's sponsor is Crafty Sentiments, and this jewel of a digi image is called "JEWEL."
I still have a box of newly-rediscovered papers on my desk, and while every project created this month has used papers from that box, it still looks over-stuffed with the wages of paper sin! But I am trying, as you can see from the photo of my newest card. I used 3 patterned papers and 2 different pieces of colored cardstock.
I colored my Jewel with Copics, and embellished simply with flowers, jewels, a butterfly charm and a cardstock sentiment sticker to finish off a simply sublime card. Now if the weather here in Chicago would just make up its addle-pated mind, it would be truly sublime. May is holding onto Spring with a tenuous grasp of temperatures, see-sawing from the 40's to 70's and back again, like a test drive on a super roller coaster.
But back to the challenge! The Outlawz Greetings is a challenge group that posts new challenges weekly on Mondays, with the last Monday of each month being an Anything Goes theme. The only stipulation on any paper-crafted project is to use a greeting or sentiment on the front of your creation. Please visit us for inspiration, and leave a comment or enter the challenge to share your artwork with us.

Hope Springs Eternal

Today brings a quick reminder that very very soon (April 1) I will be celebrating another year of glorious life on this planet with a Birthday Blowout. There will be games, questions, and challenges, and of course, PRIZES, from generous sponsors like Ike's Art, whose image, Shhh, is showcased in a card above. Other sponsors include Decosse's Dynamite Doodles, Creative Bug Designs, as well as prizes from Queen Kat Designs, Simpy Betty, Stampin Up, and many more.
For my card today, I wanted to help those still in the throes of winter temps, like Chicago. We had one fantastic day of Spring, where short sleeved shirts and capris could be seen against a background setting of mucky old hills of icy snow. Well, the snow finally melted, but Spring hid from our cheers and temps fell back into the 30s and 40s.
So I created this card to warn my peeps to be cautious in welcoming Spring. She's a little shy this year. I colored her with Copics, then popped her onto a shimmery card from DCWV. I added ribbon, jeweled flowers, a butterfly charm, a couple pearls, and even doodled a tad on one edge. My sentiment continues from the word "Shh" to the inside of the card, which reads, "You'll scare away Spring."
I am entering my card in Ike's World Challenge blog, whose challenge for another couple days is "Coloured Hair." I gave her the rich colors of Spring flowers (trying to get her to return). Wish us luck here in the windy city!
