One More Semester to Go for My Daughter

My daughter opted to get her associate's degree from the community college before going out into the world to finish her education or start her career. And this semester is her last--she is three classes away from graduating, and I am SO proud of her.
So my DT card for this week's challenge at the Outlawz Greetings is for her. The challenge is to use circles on your project. It doesn't have to be a card, it can be almost anything else, BUT it must have a sentiment or quote on the front of it. My image comes from Kenny K, our guest sponsor for this week.. My circles are die-cut from paint chips, as well as jeweled. My sentiment is embossed, and everything comes from my never-ending stash of supplies (sigh). I will use it all up, I know I will, but every time I think I'm making headway, I find a box I missed and there's more paper or flourishes or alterable materials. There's just so darn much of it! I have discovered what my super power is---I can clean out craft supplies one week before I need to use them on a project. ROFL

I love playing with Kenny K's digis, and when I saw this Girl Soldier digi image, I had to create with it for the Outlawz Greetings challenge this week. Kenny K is one of our generous sponsors this month, and is offering 3 digi images as a prize to one lucky winner.
The theme this week is Buttons! and I have been experimenting with merging paper and digital crafting techniques again. My card is 1 part digital and the rest cut and color. Can you tell which is which? LOL
I colored my image with Copics, going back in time to when I wore fatigues and they were a mix of greens and browns. I was never as buff as this soldier, but I did put in my time for my country, and proud of it. That's why I support programs such as Operation Write Home, Honor Flight, and Wounded Warrior. This card will join others in a mail out to deployed troops. There's a Reserve Unit close to home (I should know, my son is an Army Reservist) and they have at least one company deployed.
I have to admit, the digital elements on my card are my buttons, the necessary element to qualify for this challenge (well, that plus a greeting). I was struck by inspiration for my card, and had no idea at the time what the theme was, so had to add them in last minute as it were.

Rock That Card

"I love rock & roll" is what my card today says. I love this image from Kenny K, called Rock Chick. I got to play with her for the newest Craft Your Passion challenge starting today.
After coloring Rock Chick, I framed her in cardstock, distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Tattered Roses ink, and added a tiny piece of leftover sticker.
I had fun creating my card background. Some Prima patterned paper sets the mood, and various trim and stickers highlight her passion.
What's your passion (besides paper crafting, that is)? I love to listen to my iPod, bike, read and water color (just not at the same time).

Inspired by a Song

Forever Night Creepy Challenge Blog has a new theme this week:  Be Inspired by a Song.

I was inspired by the song "Love Potion Number Nine".  I had this lovely image from  Kenny K Designs called Cabaret and already knew I wanted some sheet music for the background.  I distressed the heck out of the paper and the rest of the card fell into place after coloring the image with a mix of Copics and Spectrum Noir markers.
I like that touch of black magic, using a Halloween vellum sticker of the potion bottle.  I added a rub-on of the "No.9", and added some Stickles to make the bottle look like there was a bit of potion left in it.
I will add that Kenny K's image, Cabaret, is lovely enough to not ever have to resort to love potions, but maybe she was in a slump? LOL
