Be Alert, Be Brave, Be Resilient at the Path of Positivity

Today is the midpoint of October's challenge at the Path of Positivity. The theme is RESILIENCY, and the challenge runs from Oct. 5th to Nov. 1st.
Our guest sponsors in October are Ike's Art
and The Stamping Boutique (TSB)
http://thestampingboutique.com/

Besides inspiration from the DT, we are very fortunate to have for our guest DT member Hanne from Handmade by Hanne.  Hanne has been playing along at the challenge blog when she is able to.  We've seen many of her wonderful projects throughout the year. Please be sure to check out her blog when you enter your project this month.

Before I go into my card details, here are this month's PRIZES:
  • A $10 gift certificate from Ike's Art, one of our guest sponsors this month, for the post or project that the DT deems most inspiring of the bunch.
  • 2 images from The Stamping Boutique (3 if you use a TSB image), one of our guest sponsors this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.
There will also be:
  • One digital designer paper (made to order in a couple different ways) from Décosse's Dynamite Doodles for one lucky person who leaves a comment on posts published during the challenge timeframe.
  • One digital sentiment for every single person who enters the challenge.

Now let's take a look at my new card!!
After printing my The Stamping Boutique digi image, called Smoochie- Halloween Scene, I colored her with Copics, adding some shimmer and shine, then cut her out and framed her with Halloween-themed paper. Since my "frame" was a little smaller than my image before adhering, I cut around her broom on both sides.
For embellishments, I tied bakers' twine around the frame and under my image and added s few black Skittles.
I printed my own sentiment in Photoshop. It reads: If at first you don't succeed, Fly, Fly again. I thought this was the perfect sentiment to use during our theme of Resiliency. After all, being resilient doesn't mean curling up in a ball and quitting, but adapting to changing situations.
I am working very hard at being resilient this month, as I am in a rock and a hard place at work. I must make choices and be aware of opportunities when they present themselves for improvement at my job or elsewhere.
So, my card has a secret message to all who are struggling during the everyday and not-so-everyday stresses of their lives. Be alert, be brave, be resilient!
How do you interpret RESILIENCY? Create a card, project or post that describes this attribute in a positive way. Then link it up with the Path of Positivity challenge blog for your chance to win those awesome prizes listed above.
And as ever, crafters, have fun!

2015 Outlawz Challenges Off to a Great Start

Happy New Year, crafters!
The Outlawz Greetings challenge this first Monday of 2015 is to create a card or project using CHEVRONS, BLING and CIRCLES. You don't necessarily have to use a colored image, but your project must have a sentiment.
My first card uses an image from Dr. Digi called "Dunderton Decorators, Ltd."
As you can see, I combined a couple of circles with chevron washi tape for the challenge.
Next up is another birthday card:

I made this card using a couple images from one of our monthly sponsors, Dr.Digi. They are called "Paint Brush" which is showcased on the front of my card, and "Paint Can," showcased on the inside of my card.

Dr. Digi has a load of quirky and funny images with which you can play, too! They even have a few freebies to color up HERE. Of course, any image is good to go for the Greetings Challenge. All you have to do is add some CHEVRONS, BLING and CIRCLES. I didn't have any chevron patterned paper or any Washi tape to make my CHEVRONS, so I used coordinating card stock strips to make them on the side of my card. My BLING (red jewels) is found on the chevrons, as well as the handle of my brush (Stickles). My patterned paper is chock full of CIRCLES, and my sentiment was stamped onto a die-cut circle.
Jump into the New Year with both hands full of markers and play in the Outlawz Greetings challenge this week. Plenty of inspiration and fun there!

Sneak Peek at New Squigglefly Images

Lucky me, lucky you! I got to play with an upcoming release from Squigglefly and I want you to see it NOW.  It is a cute image called "Say Cheese Please" by artist Cheryl Grant Alger and will be released in May.
This week's challenge over at the Squigglefly Challenge Blog asks for you Mother's Day cards using a Squigglefly image.  Since I make cards for my mom, MIL, gram, my kids' godmothers and the mothers of my grandchildren, I have plenty to make in the next two weeks! This is the perfect challenge for me to get them finished and sent out!
I found this fun patterned paper in my stash. It's from CTMH and is double-sided.  I love the bright colors and chevron stripes seem to be hot at this time. My images are colored with Copics and given a hint of highlighting with my white gel pen. I used this pen to handwrite my sentiment and doodle a few hearts to embellish.  A couple of butterfly charms complete my card.
Don't forget to use a Squigglefly image in this challenge so that you are in the running for free digis!  Can't wait for this new image?  Check out all kinds of images from Cheryl and other talented artists at the STORE.
