Anything Goes at Your Scrapbook Place Challenge Blog

Rick St. Dennis is one of my favorite artists, and I was so happy when I discovered that he was sponsoring August's challenge at Your Scrapbook Place. I chose to play with "Morning Goddess True Sexy." I have her in a few different poses as she is one of my favorite characters in Rick's Store. I love that Rick knows that sexy doesn't disappear with age, nor is it weighted down by shape.

As I promised at the beginning of the year, I am still attacking my craft stash. It doesn't look like I made a dent in it, but after using four layers of paper, I know that it is being reduced. I am also getting my supplies more organized, so that I can spend more time on designing and creating and less time looking for the supplies I need!

Your Scrapbook Place offers monthly challenges where the theme is always Anything Goes. So craft with love and link up your project for your chance to win a prize from our very special sponsor, Rick St. Dennis. Have fun!

Challenges I am Entering:

Anything Goes at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog

Two weeks left for the Anything Goes challenge at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog, and I'm here today with a DT make to inspire you to create and link up for your chance to win free digis of your choice at the Scribbles Store.

My project today combines fluid acrylic painting with a Copic-colored image on a small metal serving tray. I first altered the look of the tray, using various shades of blue and purple, with some white and black mixed in for contrast. Once the paint had dried, I printed and colored a Scribbles Designs image called #833 Blue Police Booth. You should check out the Scribbles Store for some endearing and also hilarious images.

I adhered my image to the tray, then varnished over the whole thing with Liquitex Gloss Varnish. I added the key charm/chain and the bow tie to bring my piece closer to the Doctor, then added stars and jewels to make it shimmer. Although it is definitely showcasing Doctor Who, I couldn't resist the pun in multi-colored letters. For those of you unfamiliar with Dr. Who and/or Spanish, a Tardis is the phone booth "spaceship" the Doctor travels in, and Buenas Tardes translates to Good Afternoon.

Don't you just love puns?? I do!! So the sky's the limit at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog where the theme for the next two weeks is ANYTHING GOES. That means any type of project, so open your heart to your muse and create art. Just don't forget to link up with the main Scribbles blog for your chance to WIN digi images of your choice from the Store. Good luck and have fun!

Anything Goes at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog

I've been waiting for an Anything Goes challenge so that I can incorporate my two favorite crafting techniques into one project - fluid acrylic painting and digital image coloring. Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog opened the door to the canvas above.

I had just created the painting and started to varnish it for that shinier than shiny finish when I decided to use it for my DT make for Scribbles Designs. I thought the white paint looked like waves in a choppy sea, so I colored up "Sailboat 1" from the Scribbles Store with my trusty Copics. The sentiment is a favorite of mine, and seemed perfect for my canvas.

I used Liquitex Gloss Varnish (two coats) to seal the cardstock image and painted words. That sailboat just pops from the canvas, don't you think? It's 10"x20", so makes a nice focal point on my wall. I love how my acrylic paint flowed around my canvas, creating an intense background for my scene.

The sky's the limit at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog, and you have until the 14th of July to create and link up your cards and projects for your chance to win some awesome digis from the Scribbles Store. Hope to see you there!

Victorian CHristmas at Ike's World Challenge Blog

Merry Christmas from Ike's World Challenge Blog! The newest challenge is at its midway point, and its theme is a "Victorian Christmas." No, the thee is always optional, and as you can see, I took the Anything Goes route and arrived at the digital card above. Since my blog background is white. the card base did NOT show, but it does have a white cardstock background, and prints up nicely for perfectly flat, one postage stamp mailing. As you can see, it also looks great on a computer. Since my sister lives in Berlin, mailing even a letter is expensive from the States. She isn't coming home for Christmas, so I'm sending her this card electronically. In fact, I send her digital cards frequently. I miss her a lot.
Anyway, my card features:
Ike's Art Images: Kitten Kristmas
Papers: Decosse's Dynamite Doodles Ornament 2, December Delights Paper Kit
& Gold, Glitterati 1 Paper Kit
Digital Elements: Pixel Scrapper Melo Vrijhof's Scatter, Christmas Day Set

Whether you create with a Victorian Christmas in mind, or have other ideas in mind, link your creation (anything goes) to Ike's World Challenge Blog for a chance to win a sweet girt certificate to the Ike's Art Store!

Good Luck and Happy crafting! And Happy Holidays from me to you!

Anything Goes at the Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge

It's time for my favorite type of challenge theme - Anything Goes - and the Outlawz Monday Greetings offers an Anything Goes challenge theme on the last Monday of every month. So today my Anything Goes card uses images from one of two sponsors for the week, Melonheadz
Melonheadz offers sets of cute and family-friendly images, like the one I used, Christmas Carolers. After choosing a photo I had taken from Chicago's last Snowmageddon, I placed all my little carolers facing my own house, along with their puppy, a friendly cardinal and, although my frame by Brooke Gazarek of PixelScrappers.com hides it, a holiday swag on my front tree.
Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, I am in double-time, trying to get handmade gifts finished and my cards mailed out. I can't do anything with my house and decorations, as it is in demolition mode, but the contractors think it will be finished by Christmas. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Meanwhile, the second sponsor for this challenge is Robyn's Fetish,
whose lovely image, Cabin in the Woods, I used to create one more Christmas card. So, what will you create for the Anything Goes challenge at the Outlawz Greetings challenge? I'll be looking for your card or project this week, so don't forget to link it up, and say HI, Pat!! LOL
Happy Holidays!

Anything Goes at the Outlawz Greetings Challernge

Welcome to a new challenge at the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge. This week offers my favorite kind of challenge--Anything Goes! And so, I created my DT make, a personalized candle with which to gift my new neighbor who just moved  in.
Have you decorated a candle using a stamped or digital image yet? It is fun and easy. Color up your image first. Mine is from this week's guest sponsor, QKR Stampede, and is called Smiling Flowers.
To make your image a part of your candle, place it flat onto the candle and cover it with a piece of wax paper long enough to go all the way around your candle. Keep it evenly tight and use your heat gun on it. The wax from the wax paper will melt a layer on  top of the image as if the candle was purchased with that image on it.
For my candle, I embellished simply with a bit of ric rac adhered to its bottom.
Of course, this challenge is called the GREETINGS challenge, so I made a "chalkboard" gift tag for my candle.
And here is my total project, ready for me to walk it over to my neighbor this week.
Now it's your turn! The sky's the limit with an Anything Goes challenge, so grab your Muse by the hand and create. But don't forget to link up your project at the Outlawz Monday Greetings for your chance to win this week's prize of five digis from QKR Stampede! Good luck and happy crafting!

My Favorite Kind of Challenge at the Outlawz Greetings Challenges

It's the last Monday of the month, which means ANYTHING GOES is the theme at the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge. Kitty Bee Designs is this week's sponsor, and I created my card using a digital image called Best Bun.
My card is all about friendship today, inspired by the many many times my BFF and I sat in front of fireworks, the lake, a garden, etc., It's so relaxing to sit with a friend, knowing that you will never be alone, even when she is far away. That's how I feel about my soul sister, Janie. She and I go back to college days.
I drew and colored my card face with a mix of Copics, colored pencils and white gel pen. After framing my Copic-colored image with cardstock, I added siimple embellishments and my sentiment.
The inside says it all:
What will you create this week when it's Anything Goes? Just don't forget to link up for your chance to win 3 digi images from our sponsor, Kitty Bee Designs.

Anything Goes at the Outlawz Greetings Challenge This Week

Welcome to the last Monday of the month, where it's Anything Goes at the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenges. This week's guest sponsor is SLS Lines, and I got to play with a digi image called Goth Girl w/Goldfish & Balloons.  She looks a little sad, or at least thoughtful, so I created a "Thinking of You" card that I can personalize for a long-distance friend I am missing, someone who needs a cheerful note, or even a get-well card.
I colored my image with Copics, using white and metallic gel pens for a little shimmer. Then I fussy-cut her out and framed her with a paper doily. I placed an embossed piece of cardstock on my card face to pull the colors together, adding some black ink on parts of the embossed "bumps."
I embellished simply with pearls, ribbon and a single black square jewel.
So, what are you going to create for the Anything Goes theme this week? whatever it is, don't forget to link up at the Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge for your chance to win some awesome prizes from our sponsor, SLS Lines. and as always, crafters, have fun!

The Outlawz Challenges Are Out of this World

Today is the last Monday of the month---do you know what that means at the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenges?? It's ANYTHING GOES, my favorite kind of challenge.
One of this week's sponsors is Creative Hands and I created my boy's birthday card with one of their digi images called Spaceship Boy.
To exaggerate my outer space look, I used a punch on the corners. My image is colored with Copics and embellished with stars and alien-looking buttons (I even cut the Earth from a map and pasted it on the card). My greeting is Photo-shopped.
Challenges I am entering:
Crafting when We Can - Add Stars
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Challenge #34 Anything Goes
Digi Designs Challenge blog - For the Boys
My next card uses an image from our other sponsor, Crafty Sentiments. The image is called "Tess Summer Fun," and I think it's safe to (pretend to) feel secure in Mother Nature, in that she won't go all bipolar on us for the rest of the Spring season - heat on at night and air conditioner on during the day! LOL

I created a swing card using leftover papers and my circle cutter from Creative Memories.

Challenges I am Entering:
A Gem of a Challenge - Weather (I chose Summer with flowers blooming everywhere)
Crafty Challenges - Summer Time
Avenue 613 Create - Anything Goes
Alphabet Challenge blog - G is for Girlie
Simply Papercraft challenges - Anything Goes

What do you think of when someone says Anything Goes? Create it and link up with us this week for your chance to win some awesome prizes. Happy crafting!

Anything Goes at the Outlawz Monday Greetings

Today brings us a new challenge at the Outlawz Monday Greetings. And they also have two sponsors-that's twice the prizes offered this week! My first card uses the digi "Wine Bottle w/Glass" from Angie's Cards & Digis. My sentiment was inspired by the theme song from the movie "Cabaret." However, the theme this week is Anything Goes!
After coloring my image with Copics, I added a little dimension with white gel pen. My papers, die-cuts and embellishments are all pulled from my magic bag of leftovers (magic because it seems to be bottomless). I think my color scheme of pink, green and ivory work well here, don't you?
Challenges I am Entering:
Crafting when We Can - Based on a song (Cabaret)
Corrosive challenges - Girls, Ladies, Women (girls' night out)
Great Impressions challenges - Ladies Night
Crafting with Friends - Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday challenges - Add a Quotation (misquoted from Cabaret)
My second card today uses a digi image from Creative Bug Designs, also sponsoring the Outlawz Monday Greetings this week.

I colored an image called "Look at Me, Lolly." I love that he's peeking through a hole just to greet us! I found this fabulous paper (again, stash is endless) and popped him smack in the middle of the "rays" of sunshine, thereby inspiring me to continuously hum "Hello Sunshine" by Aretha Franklin from 1968.
I adhered tiny jewels around my circle of sunshine and added some sequins for sparkle. After adding some fiber for texture, I die-cut my song-inspired sentiment, and my card is complete. Now if I could just get the song out of my head...
Challenges I am Entering:
Not Just Cards challenges - Anything Goes
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes
Time OUT challenges - Celebrations w/optional die-cuts or fussy-cutting)

Although my art today was inspired by songs, the theme at the Outlaw Monday Greetings is ANYTHING GOES, so go create and link up with us for your chance to win this week!

You Rock My World

I love Rock n Roll. I should because although I wasn't around at the birth of rock n roll, I was certainly part of the generation who watched the first music videos on MTV, whose parents worried that I was listening to too much "acid rock', who saw men like Alice Cooper and David Bowie wearing make-up on stage (let's not forget KISS), and who listened to Larry Lujack for all the music and news on radio.
My little rocker here, a digi image from Aliciabel, is called Rock 'n' Roll. Aliciabel is our guest sponsor this month at the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge. I created a kaleidoscope card for my DT make. It was fun sorting through my paper stash to coordinate the papers (and use them up. I also think the design of the card is perfect for her.
This week's challenge is Anything Goes, my favorite type of challenge! Please link up your cards and projects with us at the Outlawz. You could be our random winner of prizes from Aliciabel. Meanwhile, click on the link for a little blast from the rock n Roll past:

Anything Goes at the Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge

I have a friend who turns 21 on February 29. It's a magical birthday, as it only happens once every four years. How many 84 year old women can say they're celebrating their 21st birthday?!
I couldn't let this special Leap Year month go by without making a calendar page for my desk calendar. It is literally an acrylic set of boxes, whose four sides sandwich my monthly calendar pages. Since the middle is hollow, I can fill it with whatever suits my fancy, and this month I must fill it with those adorable Valentine conversation hearts. Yum!
Today starts another Anything Goes Challenge at the Outlawz Monday Greetings. Our sponsor this week is Lacy Sunshine, and I got to play with a cuter-than-cute image called Rory - Catching Butterflies. Although it is still mighty cold this month, it's always wise to keep warm thoughts close to your heart. So Rory is showcased on my February calendar page to remind me that warmer weather will eventually wind its way to my neck of the woods.
After coloring her with Copics, I frame her with cardstock and cut her out and pieced the sentiment next to her. A few jeweled flowers keep the embellishments simple and flat enough to fit between the acrylic layers of my calendar box.
Be sure to link up your own creation for your chance to win images from Lacy Sunshine this week. Don't forget to check out the DT inspiration and leave a little love before you go--everyone needs a little love!

Pop Open a Good Book

Good evening, crafters! I'm a little late in showcasing my DT make for the Outlaw Greetings challenge that started this morning. The guest sponsor this week is Crafty Sentiments

and I got to play with this cute digi image called "Daydreaming." I decided to make a bookmark after coloring and fussy-cutting my guy. After all, reading opens up a lot of ideas for daydreams!
I used red & white striped paper to make my popcorn box, and a magazine pic for the boy's background before putting it altogether on a green base. My sentiment (a necessity for any challenge at the Outlaw Monday Greetings) is inspired by the popcorn, and I used a brad to form the letter O in POP. A paper clip and ribbon finish off my project and now it's your turn.
The challenge this week is ANYTHING GOES!!

Anything Goes with SLS Lines and the Outlawz Greetings Challenge

It's my favorite theme time at the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenges--Anything Goes!! One of our sponsors is SLS Lines, and their Etsy Store is full of gorgeous images to color and create with.
My card features an image called Air Fairy. After I colored and fussy cut her out, I discovered a Tim Holtz Idealogy Cabinet card that I covered with shimmer paper (in teal, my fave color). I found a leftover piece of beach scene paper and embossed my sentiment onto the front, where my fairy is hovering in the clouds. To create the look of soft movement, I added  few pearl leftover flourishes around her. All that was left to do was add a shimmery border to the bottom of my card, and a soft dove for good measure.
What will your project be? The sky's the limit with just a few guidelines: make sure to use a sentiment or quote on the front of your project, and link up your project post (not your whole blog), making sure that you didn't post it before the start of the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge.
Other than that, the world is your oyster, and the DT look forward to seeing what you create!

Another Sublime Challenge at the Outlawz Greetings

The only thing more sublime than a conversation between a fairy and a ladybug is an Anything Goes challenge! That's the new challenge this week at the Outlawz Greetings. This week's sponsor is Crafty Sentiments, and this jewel of a digi image is called "JEWEL."
I still have a box of newly-rediscovered papers on my desk, and while every project created this month has used papers from that box, it still looks over-stuffed with the wages of paper sin! But I am trying, as you can see from the photo of my newest card. I used 3 patterned papers and 2 different pieces of colored cardstock.
I colored my Jewel with Copics, and embellished simply with flowers, jewels, a butterfly charm and a cardstock sentiment sticker to finish off a simply sublime card. Now if the weather here in Chicago would just make up its addle-pated mind, it would be truly sublime. May is holding onto Spring with a tenuous grasp of temperatures, see-sawing from the 40's to 70's and back again, like a test drive on a super roller coaster.
But back to the challenge! The Outlawz Greetings is a challenge group that posts new challenges weekly on Mondays, with the last Monday of each month being an Anything Goes theme. The only stipulation on any paper-crafted project is to use a greeting or sentiment on the front of your creation. Please visit us for inspiration, and leave a comment or enter the challenge to share your artwork with us.

Happy Anniversary to my Knight in Shining Armor

Another Monday with the Outlawz Greetings Challenges!
This week is Anything Goes, my fave kind of challenge. I decided to make an anniversary card for my sweet hubby of 38 years. He truly is my Knight in Shining Armor, which also happens to be the name of the digital image I used from one of this month's sponsors, A DAY FOR DAISIES.
After coloring my hero with Copics, I fussy-cut him out, changed out his frame for a patterned paper one and popped him on some shiny silver foil paper (after punching the edges with a Martha Stewart set of hand-helds). Then came the jeweled flourishes, the hearts, the pearls and the sentiment (K&Co). Don't you love that patterned paper I used in the background? It's from CTMH.
I went all out on my card, even adding m'lady's (my) scarf at the end of his lance, as well as adding a feather (ahem) I mean plume, to his helmet. And my valiant knight is off to win his true love's heart. Silly boy, he should know he has it by now! He's much better off sneaking in to his lady's bedchambers and...oops, never mind. Some things are best left unsaid. LOL
My inspiration for this card came from a few sources:
We Do Dobadoo - Romance Challenge #2
Open-minded Crafting for their "Inspired by a Movie" challenge (First Knight & Camelot)
Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers for their brilliant alphabetical challenge (I chose "I for Iconic-call him Lancelot, King Arthur-any guy on a horse wearing a tin can holding a long stick is easily identifiable as an icon)

Other challenges I am entering:
Left of Center Challenges - Layer It Up
Glitter n Sparkle - Pearls & Swirls
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Anything Goes
That Craft Place - Love and/or Valentine

Live Long and Prosper in the New Year!

I grew up on Disney movies and Star Trek. I'm tickled that my kids are also growing up with Star Trek! And now I get to craft with one of my fave quotes from Mr. Spock!
The hand symbol, "Live Long and Prosper," is my inspiration for my New Year's card today. The digi, released by Squigglefly this month, is from Lynne Stansbery, one of my fave artists (so it's a win-win situation). She draws a lot of digi images using hands and they are all so realistic and touching-I know, as I have most of them! LOL
Anyway, I thought the hand gesture deserved a proper background, so I pulled a scene from some Star Trek free clipart for the background. It's not very apparent in my photo, but Spock's hand has a touch of green, as every Trekkie knows he is an alien from the planet Vulcan. The ship in the background, the Enterprise, is one on which I've taken many voyages throughout the years. Although captains may have changed, Vulcans are long-lived, and Mr. Spock has been known to make an appearance or two on each new series or movie.
But back to my card...Squigglefly has a new challenge this week, and it is also one of my favorites--ANYTHING GOES! So, crafters, have your way with your supplies, and remember, if you use a Squigglefly image, you'll be in the running for free digis. Good luck, and have fun!!

Anything Goes at the Outlawz Greetings Challenge

It's the last challenge of the month at the Outlawz Greetings challenge, and you know what that means!  ANYTHING GOES!!
Our sponsor this time around is the fabulous Rick St. Dennis.

I got to play with this awesome holiday image. It's called Starry Night Santa. I love the details in this image. I can just imagine Santa holding a star aloft and all the elves at the North pole oohing and aahing, and then cheering as he lets the star go and it rises high in the dark sky to light Santa's once a year sleigh ride (He's got to have more magic up his sleeves than a few flying reindeer).
After coloring my Red Man with Copics, I distressed with Tim Holtz Ink, matted it and popped him on some leftover patterned Christmas paper. A bit of K&Co Holiday border lines the bottom edge of my card, and I cut a few extra stars to frame Santa.
I finished off my card with a DCWV cardstock sentiment sticker, and a leftover floral sticker. To add a little detail, I used my white gel pen to highlight some of Santa's cape, as well as put in some hand-sewn (faux) stitches to keep the stars in their places.
I hope you like my card, and I know you'll like the images that Rick St. Dennis offers at his shop. I hope my card inspires you to start your Christmas cards, entering the Outlawz Greetings Challenge in the meantime. Don't forget, you don't necessarily need a colored image, nor does it have to be a card, but it MUST have a sentiment on the front.

I'm entering my card using 2012 Starry Night Santa from Rick St Dennis to his Facebook page, where the theme is: ANYTHING GOES

I'm entering my card in the Corrosive Challenge blog where the theme is: HAPPY ANYTHING
