I love his images, which run from the cute and quirky to the dark and delicious. This image is called Lady of the Roses. I colored her with a combination of Copics and gel pens. I popped her onto paper left over from another project (she fit perfectly into one of the patterned blocks), cutting out and adding some pieces from more leftovers to add some dimension to "neighboring" blocks, and adding my sentiment (clear sticker) and some jewels for embellishment.

It's Christmas at the Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge

Okay, crafters, it's time to start those handmade Christmas cards, and just in time for the new challenge at the Outlawz Greetings challenge!! Anything Christmas Goes this week, and DT got to play with images from Rick St Dennis.
I love his images, and my goal is to collect all his Santa Claus images. This one is called Naptime Santa, and he inspired my sentiment. Santa does a whole years' worth of work in just one very long night, one very Hard Days' Night. The song kept buzzing around my brain (and out my mouth) until I realized I had to put it on my card!

Anything Goes at the Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge

Good morning, crafters! It's Anything Goes at the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge and this week Rick St Dennis is our very generous sponsor, offering 2 digi images to a winner. I colored up an image called Sister Jubilata, then inked the edges of my image and let it sit on my craft desk for a couple days.
Time did its trick and when I came back to my Copic-colored image, I knew I wanted to use it on a recyclable container headed out the door. I rescued it and covered it with patterned paper and sprayed the cover with gloss Black spray paint.

I pulled out boxes and drawers of embellishments for this Blessings Jar featuring Sister Jubilata. Leftover die-cut, flowers, jeweled flourishes and trim went onto my jar. Then I added glue and glitter to make it shimmer and sparkle.

I finished off my project with a leftover flower on top of my lid. Any guesses as to what my Blessings Jar started out as? (I'm really proud of this upcycle project)

Do, Do That Voodoo, That You Do So Well

I love Progressive Freebie challenges, don't you? Once you start, there's nothing stopping you from getting a year's worth of free digis as long as you create with each digi and post it.
Which is exactly what the Outlawz Progressive Freebie challenge is all about! This month we have a sweet digi from the master of macabre, Rick St. Dennis.

The image is called Voodoo Man and I framed him in a Halloween-themed shadow box with goodies from my gruesome stash. Those embellishments include charms, stickers, glitter, handmade flowers, a few Dollar Store snags, even a feather! I love Halloween in all its cuteness, its candy-liciousness, its spookiness and, as seen above, its grotesqueness.

Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet, Give Me Something Good to Craft with...

Everyone loves a nice treat on Halloween. Read through my post for your chance to win a very nice treat!

I was in the mood for some Halloween decorations---handmade, that is. I had been saving a beautiful box from last Christmas that seemed perfect for a shadow box. Using Rick St Dennis' Death on Saturday Night, I colored then fussy-cut his image. I created the scene with patterned paper from my stash (DCWV stack). The moon, fence and sentiment are all stickers I snagged at a craft convention.
I definitely wanted a 3D effect, so my image is built with about 4-deep squares of dimensional dots. The pumpkin and headstone with just two dots.
Although good, I strived for great, so added some moss and stingy stuff that I had purchased a couple years ago in the floral aisle of a dollar store (using up my stash, one project at a time). My shadow box. is 1-1/2" deep, and 15x6 inches around. It's very lightweight, and can be set on a shelf or hung on a wall. Right now it's in my craft room, but will go on my Facebook page to see if anyone likes it enough to purchase it. (This is a new experiment for me. My friends have always said 'Oh you should sell your stuff' so I'm going to see if anything is salable on FB before I invest in Etsy)

Top o' the Mornin' to You

Top o' the mornin' to you all, peeps! I couldn't resist a Spring holiday card using this fabulous digital image from Rick St. Dennis. She's called "Colleen" and is available at his store. I colored my Irish maiden with Copics, then cut almost all of her out with the Scalloped Oval Spellbinders Nestabilities die before popping her onto some glittery green paper with punched corners. I also framed her with lace and ribbon. My sentiment came from QKD. Some Skittles and a handmade shamrock made out of punched hearts and inked twine.
Today finds us with a new Anything Goes challenge at Craft Your Passion challenge blog. So how about a St. Paddy's Day card, or whatever your little heart desires, and come play with us this week.

Anything Goes at the Outlawz Greetings Challenge

It's the last challenge of the month at the Outlawz Greetings challenge, and you know what that means!  ANYTHING GOES!!

I got to play with this awesome holiday image. It's called Starry Night Santa. I love the details in this image. I can just imagine Santa holding a star aloft and all the elves at the North pole oohing and aahing, and then cheering as he lets the star go and it rises high in the dark sky to light Santa's once a year sleigh ride (He's got to have more magic up his sleeves than a few flying reindeer).

After coloring my Red Man with Copics, I distressed with Tim Holtz Ink, matted it and popped him on some leftover patterned Christmas paper. A bit of K&Co Holiday border lines the bottom edge of my card, and I cut a few extra stars to frame Santa. 

I finished off my card with a DCWV cardstock sentiment sticker, and a leftover floral sticker. To add a little detail, I used my white gel pen to highlight some of Santa's cape, as well as put in some hand-sewn (faux) stitches to keep the stars in their places.

I hope my card inspires you to start your Christmas cards, entering the Outlawz Greetings Challenge in the meantime. Dark Side of Crafting

I just discovered a great blog connected to the talented artist Rick St. Dennis called Airless Chambers, and they offer monthly challenges!!  This makes me happy that I again have a creative outlet for the darker side of my crafting and card making! I love the images he creates so I jumped on the challenge and came up with this card.

The challenge in June is to create ANYTHING BUT SQUARE and no sharp corners .  
So I created a rectangular card and after adding a couple layers to the base, I used this great black and white hounds' tooth tissue paper and ripped & adhered it to a black mat.

I colored my image, called Voodoo Skull Man, (a freebie for those who wish to join in the June challenge) with my trusty Copics, tore him out of his cardstock cage, and distressed the torn edges with Tim Holtz inks.

The sentiment is actually a magnet from off my refrigerator (shh, don't tell my granddaughter, who loves making sentences with the whole collection).

I embellished the card with inked edges, a black ribbon and flower, and a fun crop of feathers.  Uh oh, I think my granddaughter has caught on--that must be why he's running.  Run, Skull Man, before she catches you!  LOL
