Fairy Magic at the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge Blog

Christmas is a magical time, so what says magic more than fairies? The optional twist for this month's challenge at the 12 Months of Christmas is Fairy Magic. The DT got to play with images from A Day for Daisies. There are the most gorgeous images at the store, including this one called "Talking to the Moon Fairy."
I tried something new today. I placed my image onto my digital paper and printed it so that it was one single layer.I still got to color the image with Copics. I popped up my "scene" with dimensional tape, using some leftover lace for a border. Then I plundered my stash of jewels and pearls to hang off  my moon. Funny thing about my patterned paper: I used Decosse's Dynamite Doodle's Blue pp from "A Touch of Frost paper kit, but my printer chose that exact moment to run out of ink. It's supposed to be ALL blue, but you know what, I kind of like that "fade into purple" look, don't you? LOL
As for the challenge at the 12 Months of Christmas blog, remember that you don't need to follow the twist to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month nor for a chance to win an $8 gift certificate to the A Day for Daisies store.
You simply need to follow the twist if you'd like a chance to win this month's featured digital paper pack, Frolicking Fairies: Winter Edition from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.
All you have to win these awesome prizes is to remember to link up your card to the main blog!! So have fun and good luck!

It's All about the Penguins at the 12 Months of Christmas

Midway through the challenge at the 12 Months of Christmas and I'm ready to head south for the rest of the winter. Last month saw Chicago temps dip way below zero, with wind chill temps around -55 F. Cold enough for these penguins to feel comfortable but not me! LOL

Speaking of penguins, the optional twist for February's challenge has been Penguins, and Bugaboo Stamps is the guest sponsor. I got to play with a digi image from Bugaboo called Three Penguins. They are the cutest, goofiest penguins I've ever seen - I love them! They all look snug and warm in their winter hats and scarves, ready for some holiday fun.
While the Penguin twist is optional, if you want the chance to win this month's featured paper pack, ONE OR MORE PENGUINS should feature prominently on your card.

You don't need to follow the twist to link up at least 2 cards and earn a free paper each month or for a chance to win a $12 gift certificate to the Bugaboo Stamps store.
As you can see above, I made 2 cards using almost the same design, papers and image, but my first card has been hand-colored with my image and papers printed out, and the second is completely digital. I like to show the difference between the two, as the colors of the digital papers kind of fade with different printers (like mine). Now I can snail mail my paper-crafted card, and email my digital card - the best of both worlds!

My card features the following:
Bugaboo Digital image: Three Penguins

Decosse's Dynamite Doodles' Papers: Green Foil from 12 Days of Christmas 2018, Semi-Circles and Stripes patterned papers from Penguin Pals Paper Kit, Blueberry pp from Bokeh Solid Color Se 1 Paper Kit and Burgundy from A Grungy Christmas Paper Kit.

Going Green at the 12 Months of Christmas Blog

This month at the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge Blog, the optional theme is to "Add Some Greenery." My greenery is in my holly border on the left, in the poinsettia under the sentiment and in my patterned papers from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. My image is called "Joyeux Noel" from Luna Girl, who offers tens of thousands of vintage ephemera images. Lunagirl is sponsoring the August challenge.

This month, in order to have a chance to win the prize from Lunagirl, our guest sponsor, you are asked to create a card that has GREENERY (Christmas trees, wreaths, holly and berries, ivy, pine boughs, poinsettia plants, mistletoe, etc.) featured prominently in your overall design. If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize.

Now, you don't need to follow the theme to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month or for a chance to win the featured paper set. But if you follow the theme, the prize offered is a $15.00 gift certificate to the Lunagirl store.

How's your stash of Christmas cards coming along? I've got a nice amount already, and it's only August!! At this rate, I should have time to create some tags to go along to the presents I'm giving out. This year my family has decided to adopt the Icelandic tradition of giving books as presents. They give them out on Christmas Eve, and everyone starts reading them that night, but it's nice to unwrap a present on Christmas Day. Maybe instead of tags, I'll create bookmarks to go with the books I give out...

Back to the challenge- make sure you link your holiday cards by the last day of the months for your chance to win the prizes offered. Good luck and happy crafting!!

One for the Guys at the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge Blog

Can I get a Merry Christmas out there?! At the 12 Months of Christmas, we try to inspire crafters around the world to start each year off building their stash of holiday cards. We've reached the midpoint of 2018, so by the end of this month's challenge, you should all have a lovely stack of twelve cards. That's assuming you all link up two cards each month to get that free digital paper from Lisa at Decosse's Dynamite Doodles!! This month she made a set of textured papers called Texture ime, Leathers 1. Here's a preview:
This month, our sponsor is Sheepski Designs. Andrea has been generous, giving our teams three images each to play with (and I am creating in both teams, mwahaha). Today's DT make showcases a digital image called Snowman Selfie. It was just as fun to color up the snowmen as it was to create this card!
I also printed out two of Decosse's Dynamite Doodles' papers from the following sets. I used Turquoise from this set:
and Snowy Scene from this one:
Back to the challenge at the 12 Months of Christmas. You have until the end of June to create a holiday card. Again, if you create 2 this month, you'll receive a paper from the Texture Time Paper Kit above. You can go to the main blog and vote for your favorite paper.
In order to have a chance to win the prize from our guest sponsor, we want you to create a card that would be considered MASCULINE. Be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize.
Keep in mind though, that you don't need to follow the theme to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month or for a chance to win the featured paper set. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of three images from the SheepSki Designs store.
Like what you see from our sponsor? She also has a group on Facebook you can join, which offers Anything Goes challenges and freebies. I just joined - who doesn't like Anything Goes and Freebies?!

Man Up with the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge Blog

My card today is created with non-traditional holiday colors. I colored my image, a digi from Sheepski Designs called Snow Happy, and popped it onto a very decidedly masculine background, which includes  one of the textured papers in Decosse's Dynamite Doodles' newest Paper Kit called Texture Time-Leathers 1. You like it? Link up two cards with the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge blog and you will receive one of the papers automatically. You even get to vote for which paper should be the one given away from the set!
It's time for another new challenge theme over at  the 12 Months of Christmas blog.
Last month the focus was on the women in our lives and this month crafters are asked to give our men the special treatment--well, related to Christmas cards anyway.😉 This month, in over 105 different countries around the world, fathers are being honored during Father's Day. In fact, there is only one month during the year where there isn't a Father's Day celebration and that happens to be January. There is at least one country celebrating in every other month, with the two highest concentrations being in March and June. Since the focus is on dear old dad this month for many people, it just made sense to focus on masculinity for our theme. When you think of Christmas, what would it be like without a masculine touch?! As such, it is time to honor the men in our lives who do so much at Christmas time to make the occasion special.
That is why this month, in order to have a chance to win the prize from our guest sponsor, we want you to create a card that would be considered MASCULINENow since many crafters have difficulty with masculine cards, this is the perfect opportunity to get some practice in and stretch those masculine Christmas card muscles. It is time to break out your Santa, elf, snowman, penguin and other images perfect for a card for a special man in your life. It is also an opportunity to bring out your stripes and plaids and grungy textures; give your blue, green and brown markers a workout; delve into your stash bag of twine and burlap or maybe even find some fun masculine elements as well. Whatever approach you take, as long as your card has a masculine touch, it will qualify. If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize.

Keep in mind though, that you don't need to follow the theme to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month or for a chance to win the featured paper set. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of three images from the SheepSki Designs store.
Décosse's Dynamite Doodles also offers one free digital paper to everyone who links up a minimum of two cards to the challenge. Cards can be anything goes for this prize, they only have to follow the theme if they want a chance at the sponsor's prize. The mini set of six digital papers yet to be made, will also be offered up as a prize to one random winner.

!2 Months of Christmas Feature the Festive Feline this Month

Ah, the beloved cat! Those curious, sweet, four-legged furry creatures that sit innocently watching the Christmas tree and all those beautiful baubles shining in it. Until those tempting balls of fun drive our lovable but mischievous fur-balls into the heart of the tree to wreak a bit of holiday havoc! And yet, the holidays wouldn't be the same without this family tradition of cat vs. tree. So this month, cats rule and dogs drool.

As you can read from the intro above, the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge Blog is midway through its newest holiday theme of Festive Feline. I've got a new holiday card for you. I got to play with a digi image from my favorite artist, Sue Eisenhower, owner and artist of Ike's Art. My image is called Basket Case, and a picture formed in my head of a cat trying to wait up for Santa but not being very successful. But like a dog who can hear the refrigerator open from across the street, my kitten hears a jingle and peeks its sleepy head up to see where the noise is coming from.

My card is a hybrid mix of hand-colored image and digital papers with one digital element (the cat's cap). How I do this is to print and color my image and take a photo of it. Then I can digitally "fussy-cut" my image onto the digital papers, adding a sentiment. Once I like what I've created, I print my card, backing it onto cardstock (this time with glitter paper as well). Then I can add other embellishments from my stash.

Back to the challenge at the 12 Months of Christmas. In order to have a chance to win the prize from their guest sponsor, Ike's Artyou are asked to create a card that has a CAT as the focal point. You can choose any kind of cat image--wild, domestic, cartooned or something in-between. Whether you want to wish someone Fleas Navidad or hope they have a Pawsome Christmas, it is time to get into a furry mood.
If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that you are included in the draw for the prize.
Of course you don't need to follow the theme to earn a free paper each month or for a chance to win the featured paper set. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of
a $15 gift certificate to the Ike's Art store.

Have a Beary Sweet Christmas at the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge Blog

I remember my first teddy bear. It was cinnamon-colored, and half my height (at the time). I was four, and I promptly named her Cinnamon, Cindy for short (very original, huh?). My bear and I had many adventures together, sharing secrets and laughing and sometimes crying, but always hugging each other. And one day, she was just another stuffed animal, and I had grown on to other things, other friends, other adventures. But I still have the fondest memories of my Cindy bear, which inspired me to create my DT card today for the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge blog..

My card features images from an Imagine That! DigiStamps Set called Beary Merry Christmas. One of my images is Copic-colored, and the other two are pre-colored. Can you tell which one? LOL

I used some lovely papers from Decosse's Dynamite Designs, including the set of papers made especially for this month's challenge: A Beary Sweet Christmas Paper Kit, Christmas Bear w/sock; It's Ornamental Paper Kit, Green Balls patterned paper; Glitterati Paper Kit in Gold; Heartland Paper Kit, Green Hearts; December Delights Paper Kit, Deck the Halls 1

I added the following element from Decosse's as well: Mommie Dearest Mini Kit, Bow 3 and Red Brad (?).
Both are sponsors for this challenge:

Getting Frosty at the 12 Months of Christmas Blog

Happy New Year! It's a fresh new year, and a fresh new start to your Christmas card stash. If you happen to live in the Northern Hemisphere of this beautiful planet, January is one of the coldest months of the year. If you live in Chicago in the USA, then you have woken up on this first day of 2018 to a frosty, frigid, snow-covered scene as well. The ground might be layered with snow, icicles hanging from the eves and the windows decorated by Jack Frost himself. Of course, with Mother Nature off her meds, tomorrow could well be a moderate 50 degrees Fahrenheit with neighborhood kids riding the new bikes Santa gave them.

But let's say that January remains your normal "dead of winter month" with Jack Frost nipping at your nose. That is why this month the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge Blog offers the optional challenge to have some sort of frosty element on your card (icicles, snowflakes, snow, frost, etc.). If you choose to create with this theme, you will be entered in the drawing for this month's sponsored prize of a $10.00 gift certificate from Scribbles Designs. Please remember to place the letters FT after your name when linking your project so that we know you have followed the theme.

You don't have to follow the optional theme, and if you link up two or more cards this month, you will receive one of the featured patterned papers created by Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.

For my DT make, I got to play with a Scribbles Designs digi image called Jack Frost. If you've visited my blog lately, I've been making a lot of note card sets, and I don't expect it to go away soon. Today's note cards are again ATC-sized, perfect to add to a gift, slip into a book, or distribute to co-workers or party guests. The inside is blank so I can write personal holiday messages to those receiving my cards.

That's it for today, except to remind you to link up your Christmas cards to the 12 Months of Christmas Blog for your chance to win prizes (and to grow next year's Christmas card stash)!

Happy Crafting!

Have a Furry, Fluffy, Feathery & Finny Christmas at 12 Months of Christmas Blog

What would Christmas be like without our furry, fluffy, feathery or finned companions in our lives?! Since Wilson, our rescue Silkie Terrier, came into our lives, I can't imagine Christmas morning without his sniffing around the packages, giving me those sad brown eyes over breakfast, and jumping in excitement from one person to another as presents are unwrapped. Wilson adds an extra helping of joy to our Christmases. That is why the 12 Months of Christmas wants to see Christmas cards that features an animal that one might have as a household pet. Dog lover, cat lover or somewhere in between, what will your focus be?

My digital Christmas card features a digi image from Imagine That! Digis from Kris called Happy Howl-i-days. The sentiment is also from Imagine That Digis. And I couldn't resist popping Wilson in there! I also used the following digital goodies:
Decosse's Dynamite Doodles' It's Ornamental Paper Kit Green Balls PP and A Grungy Christmas Green & Burgundy Textured papers; Snow Much Fun Glitter Snowflakes Kit Red Snowflake

Sometimes I like to send Christmas cards via email to my international friends who live in Australia, Canada, Greece, Germany and elsewhere. Sometimes I like to print them up and send them to my neighbors, just to remind them that we are all part of a community.

So, In order to have a chance this month to win the prize from our wonderful guest sponsor, Imagine That! Digis by Kris, make sure that your Christmas card has an image of a household pet as the focal point (cat, dog, bird, mouse, rabbit, hedgehog, ferret, fish, turtle, etc.) If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that you are included in the draw for this month's sponsored prize prize of a $10 gift certificate to the Imagine That! Digistamp store.

As always, you don't need to follow the theme to earn a free paper each month from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles, and have your name thrown into the year-end draw for some extra digital goodies.

Whatever you choose, however you craft, just have fun knowing that when the Christmas season rolls around, your stash of cards will be ready to mail and give out!! No stress, no worry, no running to the store. Done and done!

Happy Crafting!

The Ghost of Christmas Past Visits the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge Blog

The best part of Christmas is the memories of Christmases past. Charles Dickens hit it spot-on when he wrote A Christmas Carol, pulling Ebenezer Scrooge and his readers into the heart of Christmas with his spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Around my dinner table at Christmas, we a single place setting  for all those who can no longer celebrate with us. Memories of their laughter and love keep them alive every year.
This spirit of Christmas Past inspires April’s Optional theme of The Ghost of Christmas Past (a Vintage Theme) at the 12 Months of Christmas Challenge Blog. The guest sponsor is Luna Girl, a perfect match for this theme as you will see from the offerings of our DT.
I used an image from Luna Girl's Pink Christmas 2 Collage Sheet, along with the following papers from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles': Vintage Damask 1: Rich Colors Paper Kit in Green, Pink Glitterati Textured Paper and Brown Paper from A Grungy Christmas Paper Kit
The rest of the embellishments are from Carolyn's Scrap Creations and various crafters at Pixel Scrapper.
The challenges are always ANYTHING GOES but there's always an optional theme. You don't need to follow the theme to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month and have your name thrown into the year-end draw for some extra digital goodies. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of a $15.00 gift certificate from Lunagirl. Please add the letters FT after your name when you link your cards so that we know you're interested in that $15 Luna Girl prize and let the spirits inspire you to create a vintage Christmas card this month!

An Angelic Celebration of Christmas

My card today is my DT make for the 12 Months of Christmas Link-Up Blog. I decided to go with non-traditional colors, and the pink goes so well with A Day for Daisies'  Lucky Wishes image.
Can you believe how fast this year is passing? It's already the middle of March, and the start of Spring officially starts in less than a week. Although I think Mother Nature has been skipping her meds with the goofy weather we've been having in Chicago this winter (not that I'm complaining).
What she needs is an angel looking over her shoulder to help her sort seasons out. Which is quite a coincidence, considering that the 12 Months of Christmas Link-Up Challenge Blog is offering an optional theme this month:
Christmas Angels
Angels are an important part of Christmas. Many Christmas trees feature angels. attired in flowing gowns. Traditionally, it is the last ornament placed at the very top of the tree. The Christmas story is filled with angels bringing messages. So, the angel deserves a special place of honor during the holiday season, and we would love to see some of those beautiful angels on your cards. Of course, every month's challenge is ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES, but in order to have a chance to win the prize from our wonderful guest sponsor this month, make sure that your card has an angel featured prominently on it in some form or other. And if you do, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize!
This month's sponsor is A Day for Daisies

Holiday Humor at the 12 Months of Christmas Link-Up & Challenge Blog

Christmas time is a time of joy, of renewal, of family and friends, of food and faith. We all make plans and preparations for the perfect Christmas, but sometimes LIFE throws a pumpkin pie in our faces and we have to laugh. Some of the funniest times are during the holidays, which make for happy memories throughout the years. Like when Grandma laughed so hard at the dinner table her dentures fell into the mashed potatoes, or when your toddler spent more time and had more fun unwrapping the presents than the presents themselves (both were actual holiday events in my family).
This month at the 12 Months of Christmas Link-Up Blog the OPTIONAL theme is HOLIDAY HUMOR. Whether you choose to use a humorous sentiment, a funny image, or some other element to elicit a smile, a snicker, or a full blown snort, it is up to you. In order to have a chance to win the prize from our wonderful guest sponsor this month, make sure that your card has some element of humor. IMPORTANT: Be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize.
My card today uses a digi image from Scribbles Designs called Twinkle Brrr. After coloring with Copics, I decorated my card face with a digi paper from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles from the new Cartoony Christmas paper Kit. I remember one year my son was "helping" me with the Christmas tree and I ended wrapped in glowing bulbs of multi-colored twinkling lights along with the tree!! So that memory inspired me to wrap my card with a twisting strand of lights before calling my card finished.
Remember, you don't need to follow the theme to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month and have your name thrown into the year-end draw for some extra digital goodies. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of a $10 gift certificate from Scribbles Designs.

The Nature of Christmas

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places”
~Roald Dahl
The 12 Months of Christmas Link-Up blog would like you to remember the Nature of Christmas with their newest challenge. Show off woodland scenes, snowfall, winter animals—whatever flora or fauna brings out the natural beauty of the holiday and inspires you to create.
I created my Christmas card using a digital image called Slim from Sparkle N Sprinkle, our sponsor this month. That very pretty background paper is from Lisa of Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.
In order to have a chance to win the prize from our wonderful guest sponsor this month, make sure that your card has some sort of outdoor nature element in the design.  Examples include: scene of trees, forest, river, birds, woodland animals, etc. Whatever element you choose must be flora or fauna (i.e. botanical or animal related). If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize.
Remember, you don't need to follow the theme to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month, and have your name thrown into the year end draw for some extra digital goodies.  You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of a $15 gift certificate to the Sparkle N Sprinkle store.
