Better Late Than Never

I have been super busy at work and home. I had a lovely visit with my son and his family over the weekend, but housework and groceries and errands stacked up, so this post is a little late, and my project is a work in progress.
I started playing with my digital papers and images and embellishments while at my son's house. The mermaid is an image from Kenny K, the dolphins from Dee Dee's Designs, and the fish and shells from the Doll House. The paper is from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles, and I used the stamp tool in Adobe Photoshop to create the seaweed.
I still need to frame my project and add a quote, but I am pretty satisfied with it so far.
On this next to the last day of my Birthday Blowout celebration, I want to know how you feel about digital crafting. I like all my digital images and mostly print them out and color them with my Copics. I used to print out the digital papers and embellies and fussy-cut them when necessary, making the project with scissors and glue and real life elements. But I have started to add so much more digital items and have finally got a handle on Photoshop that I like to play with it all on the computer. And the more I play, the better I get, and the more I like it!
While I love the new world of digital crafting, I think I spend more than half my crafting time at my desk instead of on my computer. How about you? Digital or by hand? Print and add to non-digital, or completely virtual? Inquiring crafters want to know!!

I use digital images about half the time. Print them out, color them, paste them on tissue box cardboard to use as embellishments. Sometimes I just size them for whatever project I am working on.
I still like stamped images too.

I still have to color by hand. I guess that is my favorite part of card making. Frankly I could just sit around with a stack of images and color all the time, lol!

That is my paper? Really? Hmmm...you'll have to let me know which one, I really like that one.

I can safely say that the majority of my time is spent at the computer each day. I wish it was spent on design work but sadly I just have too much admin stuff to get done each day in order to sustain the challenges I run and of course my own blog.

In terms of actual digital design of cards, I'm becoming more and more comfortable with it. I find that probably close to half of my cards are laid out and created digitally and then I just print and cut them out. Sometimes, I'll put it all together with an outline image so that when I print it out, all I have to do is colour the image. I enjoy colouring, I just wish I had more time to do it. I could go on and on but I'll stop there.

Oh and a tip to give your digital elements some depth. Invest in some shadowed layer styles and then add these shadows to your elements. It really helps to give the piece some depth. If you'd like to know where to get some good ones for free, give me a shout.

Hugs,
Lisa

I would love to follow your blog but because of the font I can't read what it says without getting a major migraine. Sorry that I can't because it really looks like a fun place to be! LOVE this piece though!

I love your card! I do some digital scrapbooking, but I'm not good enough with Photoshop to add shadows so the pages always seem flat. I use digital primarily for heritage pages with lots of journaling or for work picture pages because I like them to be clean and simple. For cards, I love digital images because you can resize them and combine them to suit your needs. I still have tons of stamps, though, and seem to constantly get more. I am dabbling in using pre-colored images and digital paper, but I'm still very much a novice with them.

Hi Pat, I love digis which I print off and color with my Copics. I also love digital papers which I print off and then use just as I would any other paper. I have not yet got the hang of digital things for designs or altering. I like the scene you created. Is it going to be a scrapbook page. It would make a good one. Edwina Brown
