The Path of Positivity Looking for Shades of Green

Good evening crafters! I hope the day has been kind to you. This month, the Path of Positivity Challenge Blog invites you to create in Shades of Green. There are two sponsors that offer gift certificates to their stores as prizes:
Scribbles Designs is offering a $10 gift certificate
for one random-draw winner. Remember, all entries must be positive,
uplifting or encouraging in some way.

and
Ike's Art is offering a $15 gift certificate
for the project deemed MOST INSPIRING
by the DT

My card offers a fun view of Christmas with Ike's Art digi "Frosty's Christmas Trees". What could be more GREEN than trees at a Christmas tree lot? (unless everything's covered in snow) Luckily, Frosty has a clear day with just a dusting of snow on the ground. But he better sell fast, as there are blizzard warnings out!

Do you buy a real tree for Christmas? We used to, but my nose can't take the fresh heavenly scent of pine or spruce or whatever the lots have for us in Chicago. So I try to get a good, natural-looking artificial tree that will last for years to come.

Your card or project doesn't have to be related to Christmas, as you can see at the Path of Positivity blog. Of course, whatever you create, have fun, and don't forget to link up for a chance to win those terrific gift certificates!

September on the Path of Positivity

Just as the seasons change, so do the challenge themes change at the Path of Positivity. This month's color theme is ORANGE. I think Autumn is my favorite season, as it is rich in warm, intense colors. Nature gives us bountiful opportunities to enjoy and record these colors in the last of summer's flowers, the gradually-turning tree leaves and the Autumn crop harvests (think pumpkins, gourds and other hardy vegetables. I believe I take more photos in the Fall than any other season.

Autumn is also a transitional season, as the Earth get ready to take a well-earned rest (actually, she should think about getting some help. Have you noticed or read about the unusual weather patterns and natural events that are taking place this year?!). Anyway, everyone should take some respite while they can, to re-energize and reboot their imagination and power.

This perspective of the season's process of slowing down inspired me to create the digital card above. I used an image from  Lunagirl's Day Dreaming Collage Sheet to showcase my thoughts on Fall. Using papers from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. I threw on some elements from Pixel Scrappers to embellish my card, and created my sentiment using a font called "Simple Game". Details are below.

The Path of Positivity challenge blog feels a great need for a challenge blog designed to inspire, nurture and provide support for the soul by creating a positive path to follow, one project or post at a time! Whether you create a card, canvas or illustrated poem, please think about sharing your work at the Path.

Challenges are monthly, with an Optional theme to follow. The last few months the challenges have been reflections on the positivity of color. If you choose to create with the optional theme in mind, you will be in the running for the prize for the Most Inspirational Creation.
If there are 14 entries or more in any challenge, the DT chooses a Top 7. Those seven entries are then voted on by visitors for the Voter's Choice.
If there are less than 14 entries in a challenge, the DT will choose a Top 3. Visitors to the main  blog will then get to vote for their favorite from those three.
If there are five entries or less, the DT chooses just ONE Top Pick, but every entry will be offered up for voting by the visitors.

There are two lovely sponsors for the September challenge: Luna Girl and Imagine That! Digis by Kris.
So now that all that info is bursting in your head, try taking a walk outside to relax, be mindful and let your imagination fly. Then link up at the Path of Positivity Challenge Blog for your chance to win prizes from our sponsors. I'll be looking for you...

Choose Your Own Colors at the Path of Positivity

Can you believe that May is almost over? This year is especially flying by so fast! That's why it's so important to wake up from your daily grind and take a moment to live in it. Look around you and enjoy the colors, breathe in the smells of new growth and blooming flowers,  and listen to the birds sing to each other.
When I go walking with my dog Wilson, I sometimes pretend I'm on a scavenger hunt, only the list is empty until I fill it. Will I find a black squirrel today, hear a woodpecker, watch a busy bee drink from a flower? Can I identify the flowers in bloom (most times no, I'm not a flower gardener)? At these times, I am not worrying about what to cook for dinner, where I put the checkbook or whose turn it is to clean the bathroom. I am in the moment, and it is my zen time (except for diligently picking up whatever Wilson leaves behind).
What does all this have to do with this month's challenge at the Path of Positivity? Nothing, I just wanted to share with you the secret to my sanity, and my positivity. Along these mindful walks, I also drink in a multitude of colors, which (here it is) segues into the theme at the Path of Positivity's Challenge: Choose Your Own Color(s).
I have a secret I want to share with you - I don't have one true favorite color. I am an eclectic lover of color. I never met a color I didn't like (well, I don't consider greige a color, what is that anyway?).  So when it comes to such an open-ended challenge like the one offered at the Path, I took the word "choose" to heart. I guess if I had to pinpoint the colors in this card, it would have to be shades of yellow, orange and purple - good solid summer colors.
I got to play with a digital image from one of two guest sponsors this month, Sheepski Designs. Andrea's store has grown so much in the last year or two and her designs are awesome. I chose one called Butterfly Curls. I am STILL trying to get my printer to behave, so my card today is 100% digital.
I started with a personal photograph of my daughter's summer garden, where she planted flowers especially pleasing to butterflies. I toned down the opaqueness and placed it onto a paper I made using Photoshop's Magic Paintbrush, which makes the background look like it's against a wood fence. I added the pre-colored image of my butterflies (damn printer) and then wrote out my sentiment in a font called Leathery Soft. To finish off my card, I framed it with Pixel Scrapper Sunny Faith Rush's Mellow Yellow Frame 1.
I CAN'T WAIT TO PRINT THIS OUT!!

Meanwhile, let me tell you about the challenge at the Path of Positivity:

You get to Choose Your Favourite Colour(s). Whether a single color or a small selection, it is up to you. You can also use some different colors if you'd like but if you would like a chance to win the prize for the Most Inspirational Creation, over half of the colours in your project must be based on your your Favourite Colour(s)! You can choose to color your image(s) and/or use your choice of colored papers and embellishments. Just make sure that the majority of your project focuses on the color(s) that you love the most.
If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize for Most Inspirational.
You will also need to let us know somewhere in your post exactly what your Favourite Colour(s) are.  Without this information, you won't be eligible to qualify for the MI prize.
Additionally, though completely optional, we'd also love to find out how your Favourite Colour(smake you feel, if you'd like to share that with us. What kinds of feelings do these colours evoke in you? You can write a sentence or two in the body of your post, write a sentence at the bottom of your post next to the link up for this challenge, or simply leave a comment on this post if you'd like.

Remember, in order to be considered eligible for this month's prizes, ALL creations must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature. You don't need to follow the optional theme if you simply want to have a chance at the Random Draw prize of THREE digital images of your choice from SheepSki Designs,

one of our guest sponsors this month. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win an additional sponsored prize of a $15 gift certificate from Lunagirl,
the second of our guest sponsors this month, for the project chosen as Most Inspiring.

That's it in a nutshell! Create with color, share with us at the Path of Positivity, and have FUN with your favorite colors!!

Trying to Keep Cool

Hello, crafters! Now that we have reached the dog days of summer, I thought to create a cooling card for you. I used two digital images from Scribbles Designs: Snow Kisses and Melting for You. The papers are from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. My collection of winter and holiday cards is almost complete. I feel so good about that! And I love creating 100% digital cards, because they are completely flat and mail out with just one regular stamp! LOL
Here are the details of this card:
Digital card using:
Scribbles Designs Snow Kisses Image & Melting For sentiment
DDD Momie Dearest Textured Papers Texture 7 & August Pools Paper
DDD Tag Grab Bag 1, Staple 2

Meanwhile, don't forget to link up your card or project for this month's challenge at Scribbles Designs. The theme is the Power of Words, as in use a sentiment as your focal point on your project. Good luck and happy crafting!

Holiday Hoopla at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog

It's the midway point of the challenge at Scribbles Designs, and their Holiday Hoopla challenge is over the top!
Today I chose to create a Valentine's Day card. I love to change up images, as in using an image for let's say Halloween, and using it on a Valentine's Day card, like mine here.
I used three digi images from Scribbles Designs:
F105- Heart Arrow, Mason Jar and Batty. While the textured paper in the foreground is mine, the background bordering my card is from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles' Glitterati Paper Kit. The font is called Crazy Killer.
I am a caregiver for my husband now, so my craft time is very limited. My laptop is always at hand, so I can still create digitally, at least until I find some free time (or take it and run with it).
Back to the challenge at Scribbles Designs - crafters have until the 14th of July to link their holiday (any holiday) cards or projects for their chance to win free digis from

Vintage or Modern at Ike's World Challenge Blog

Welcome to 2017! The newest challenge over at Ike's World Challenge Blog is Anything Goes with a Twist. The twist is to create in a vintage or modern style. I chose to play with Vintage and since my craft room is still being held captive by the contractors, I colored (a little too brightly) my image digitally. Ooh, my fingers are itching to get to my craft supplies and color my heart out. Soon, very soon...
Meanwhile, I colored Ooh La La image and popped her onto some scenery paper from Marta Van Eck at Mischief Circus, and then had my way with all the lovely digital elements in my library. Image:  Ike's Art Ooh La La
Papers: Marta van Eck Cabinet of Curiosity #7, PixelScrapper Marisa Lerin Yesteryear Paper1.
Elements: Pixel Scrappers Melo Vrijhof Our Special Day Pearls 4, Christmas Day Gold Sequin Ribbon. All the Princesses Porcelain Rose 1; Janet Scott A Mother’s Love Cream Lace & Life in Full Bloom Painted Branch; Karry Dempsey Cracks Booms & Dots Flower 3 & Dirty McFilthy Vine 1; Pauline Thompson SLSB Ribbon 1 & Eroded Hues Glitter; Sharon Grant Fall Beach Vacation embellishment 4; Sheila Reid Little Green Leaf
Font: El Capitan
My sentiment reads:  "The most beautiful makeup of a woman is Passion, but Cosmetics are easier to buy," a quote from Ives St. Laurant.
What's your style this week? Vintage or Modern? Whatever you create, please share it with us at Ike's World Challenges for your chance to win free digis. Ike offers free images with every new challenge post!! If you use one of them, your card or project counts for two entries in the drawing for a gift certificate to Ike's Store!
See you there!

Ike's World Challenge Blog Offers a Photo Inspiration

How is your month going? Besides the usual scurry to get gifts made and cards out, our house is still under construction. When I talked to the head contractor about a finish date, he said it "should be" finished by next week's end. Doesn't he realize that that is Christmas weekend? And I have a dinner for 12 to get ready and serve, as well as overnight guests?
We are already sleeping in the basement and have the one bathroom, so I can't even offer my son and his family (of six) that space to sleep in. So as you can read, my month is a little stressful! I sure hope yours is going more smoothly than mine.
Meanwhile, life goes on, especially in the crafting world. The challenge theme over at Ike's World Challenge Blog is a photo inspiration:
Choose a color, an element, or the general feel of the photo and create your holiday heart out (although it does NOT have to be a holiday project). I chose to be inspired by the colors, pulling the red, gold and green from it to create with Ike's Art images: My Teddy, The Cat-Mouse Tree, Jar with Holly & Peppermints & I Bopz U. I do like to use multiple images in my projects - do you think I overdid it?
Because of the house situation, my craft room is closed, so I created this 100% digital card which I have printed up on glossy cardstock and mailed to a few friends this month.
If you have time this week, be sure to link up your photo-inspired project to Ike's World Challenge Blog for your chance to win digital images from Ike's Art Store!! And have a wonderful rest of the month, and a merry Christmas!

We All Scream for Ice Cream

There's some fun over at DeeDee's Digis blog. They're hosting a progressive challenge. All you have to do to join in the fun is create a project with this month's featured image. That would be Ice Cream Truck, a very popular vehicle throughout these hot, sunny days. LOL
Once you link up your project, the next month's featured set will be sent to you FOR FREE!! Now who doesn't like FREE?! I know I do!
This digital set includes: 3 outline images, 9 pre-colored images, 3 white-filled layering images, and 6 sentiments, in JPG and PNG file formats. All set elements have a resolution of 300 dpi/ppi, and are easily resizable to fit your crafting needs.
I printed out four pre-colored images of bears and set them as compass points to the corners of my shaped card. My sentiment is the focal point, and I used a few flowers and brads from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.
If you want in on next month's freebie, get to the store quick. It's still half price, but I don't know how long that will last. And as always, crafters, have fun!

The Path of Perseverance is Worth Every Step

I was browsing my digi images (which is so much easier than sorting through my rubber stamps) and re-discovered this little cutie from Ike's Art. She's called Back to School, and I bet you think my internal calendar is way off, as kids all over are counting the days until summer break.
But this month's theme at the Path of Positivity blog is Perseverance, and Ike's image struck a chord with me. When my soon-to-graduate-college daughter was in Kindergarten, I was informed by her school that her reading skills were lagging behind.
I jumped at the chance to have her tutored, spending even more time with her and her favorite books than I ever had before. There were days when she would cry in frustration (me too) but she persevered. After just the one year, she no longer needed extra help, and by fifth grade she was reading at a high school level!
So my card, whose sentiment reads, "So many books, so little time," is in memory of her perseverance and success. I am so proud of her!
Prizes for this month are:
*A $10 gift certificate from Ike's Art, one of our guest sponsors this month, for the post or                     project that the DT deems most inspiring of the bunch.
  • A $25 gift certificate from Deedee's Digis, one of our guest sponsors this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.
There will also  be:
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital Stamps for each person chosen as a DT Delight.
  • One digital designer paper (made to order in a few different ways) from Décosse's Dynamite Doodles for one lucky voter who leaves a comment.
  • One digital sentiment for every single person who enters the challenge.
My card uses: Ike's Art image called Back to School
                        DCWV card base
Digital background patterned paper, shaped frame, bow, brads and flowers from                                   Decosse's Dynamite Doodles
miscellaneous peals, sequins, lace border and paper doily
