When Christmas Gets a Little Creepy

...then you know it's time for a new challenge at the Forever Night Creepy Challenge Blog.  This week the challenge is to use a little lace.  I made a Christmas card using a Queen Kat Designs image called Voodoo Child by artist Charles Bristow.

I used a gorgeous thick black lace on the bottom, under the poem I wrote, but you can't really see it well here.  The poem is a take-off from the Christmas carol, Winter Wonderland:
"Slay bells ring, are you listening? In the fields, blood is glistening.  Some gruesome sounds, black magic abounds, Walking in a Voodoo Wonderland."  Now I need a like-minded (twisted) friend who will appreciate my dark humor in this card.  Any takers?

Inspiration Blooms with QKD's 13 Days of Halloween Blog Hop

My card again uses the QKD stamped image from Charles Bristow called Voodoo Child.  I used the full image this time and framed it with Teal-colored glitter cardstock.
For my card base, I covered teal paper with this cool black diecut paper I found on the clearance rack at Marshall's.  I embellished the card with some teal webbing, black ribbon, jewels and these gorgeous black and gray flowers.

Got a Black Magic Woman

Today I made a card using part of the Voodoo Child stamped image by artist Charles Bristow.  The image comes complete in its own gorgeous frame and a ripe Halloween moon, but on this card I wanted to fussy-cut her and enlarge the moon.

I used some leftover patterned papers I received in a swap, cutting one into a kind of short fence border at the bottom of the card.  Some beads and skulls decorate the black wrought-iron of the fence, pieces cut from a lovely bit of lace from the spoils of our own Holley's trip to Turkey.  Leftover seed beads decorate the nightscape, as well as a few wisps of shimmery clouds in front of the moon (gotta love Stickles).

I colored Voodoo Child with my Copics (twice), adhering one straight onto the bg paper and another on top of it using dimensional tape.  I like the ethereal quality of the scene I created, but next time I need to use a less busy background so my image will really pop out at you (BOO!).  Mwahaha!!

It Was a Dark and Scary Night

I have been eyeing all of the fun sexy stamps from Charles Bristow offered by Queen Kat Designs for the last few months, and I was tickled pink to get my hands on this new release of his called Voodoo Child.

Here she is walking the fields at night, a raven whispering secrets in her ear as the moon lights her way.
Normally, I wouldn't want to meet anyone connected with voodooism face to face alone at night, but there's something in the way she looks at you that begs her acquaintance.
I framed the image in white and some glitter cardstock to lighten up the scene a bit, but then darkened it again with the black lace-cut paper and black flowers on the card, set against my favorite color, teal.  Some ribbon, jewels, brads and a little mesh finish off my card.
