New Layouts

Some of you may remember my post and layout of "Monkey Love". I scrapped my favorite stuffie from my childhood, still have him after all these years. That love of monkeys has been passed down to my daughter. I had a collection of photos thru the years of her and her friend, Zippet, that I scrapped this weekend. If you look closely, you can see Changito peeking out behind a couple photos. He's a real cutie-patootie!

Flower Card

I had two minutes to relax so I colored this image. Later in the day I found scraps to match and make a card . This morning I put it all together. So you could say it took me over 24 hours to make this card LOL!
Crazy at home, crazy at work, I'll be glad to escape everything and everyone at my scrapping retreat this weekend. I'm running away from home tomorrow, and leaving work early. The scrap room is open til the wee hours of the morn, there's a pool and hot tub on the same floor and all my fave craft stores nearby. That about describes heaven--am I dead??! or dreaming?!!

New Layouts

It's crazy that I have these moments to create and my layouts are bagged and packed for my weekend crop!! I rooted through my photos and found a few to scrap. Above is a set of photos from when my now 13-year0old daughter was in Preschool. I found her class shot as well as an individual and had this cool frame to use on the page. A challenge on one of my groups caused me to doodle the stick figures in crayon on the sidebar to the left, as well as the info on the tag.
I hit the jackpot when I found these pics of my daughter when she took a pompom class at the early age of four! I had some scraps that went well with the patterned paper base. My doodling took the form of outlining the letters in the title, and bringing out the subtle flowers in the patterned paper with black glitter pen.

Busy Birthday Week

Although I worked tons of hours, and had lots of chores and errands to cover this week, I still managed to steal a few moments in my craft room again. I finished two single-page layouts, as well as the card above. I really had fun coloring the image, and using all my scraps up, including the sparkly, flowery flourishes.
Some good things happened to me on my birthday and during the week, but it was also disappointing to not hear from any of my scrapping friends, not even a post to say happy bday. I think Yahoo burped on Wednesday and skipped the Birthday Reminder to my groups. Oh well, there's always next year.

6x6 Cards

This first card is a pull-out, kind of like a library card and pocket. It's a recipe card in that I'm in a swap that gives me the recipe designing the card. This recipe consisted of three flowers, two ribbons and a button. I used serendipity squares that I just made last weekend.
This 6x6 card was made for a challenge to create thank you cards for the people in your life. Too many times you don't tell people how much they mean to you until they're gone. I'm going to have to make a whole lot more cards than just this one!!! I am blessed with many friends.

Birthday Page

While tidying my craft room (a job I will always have, too bad I don't get paid for that), I came across a photo from last year. At work, our birthdays are celebrated by the birthday girl (or guy) bringing a cake to share. Since it was the only photo taken of my last birthday, and I had the day off (advantage of working in a catholic school around Easter), I took a few moments to scrap the experience.
This was also my first attempt at altering patterned paper. The altering is subtle, as I love this design. I just added some purple and black tracing around the butterflies and flowers in the pattern. I also stamped a column of "Happy Birthday to You"s down the left side of the page. My journaling is on the left inside cover of the card, plus I added a birthday poem. The three blocks of flowers? I ripped them off another card I had received, glitzed each with a little Stickle treatment, and adhered them in three different layers using dimensional squares.
That's it now, no more scrapping! I packed my bagged-up layout kits in my bag for the weekend crop (just 11 days now!). Next is my embellishments, adhesives, copics, scissors, trimmer and tools. Then I will only be able to look into my craftroom with longing. I could sketch some ideas if my fingers get antsy waiting for the crop!

Birthday Card with QT Hooty Owl

This is about the last image I have left of QT Hooty Owl from Pink Cat Studios. Lucky for me I put an order in to buy my own set of these too cute owls! The design of this birthday card is like a library pocket, with the card pulling out of the top of the pocket, where you can write your own message to the birthday boy or girl. I used leftover two-sided paper to form the pocket and make the matching card. I colored my owl with Copics, adding a dash of copper Stickles to his beak, and Liquid Glass from CTMH to spice up the ballon and his wings.
Next up is a few Serendipity squares with my leftover scraps of paper. I've never made them, but have seen some cute examples of using them on cards.

New Collage Page

I just received a book about making collage pages and all the different techniques you can use to make all or parts of a page. I'm still not done going through thebook. I found myself with a little time, had the makings of a layout all bagged, and decided to try my hand.
It's much neater and cleaner than the pages I saw in the book. I'm still wrapping my brain around the blast of color, media and texture on each page pictured in the book, but I like what I've made. Just wished I'd had a better grasp of the title. I put a small journaling box behind the larger photo, so as not to lose my thought about my granddaughter and her new teeth that month.

New Birthday Card

I just got some new Tilda images. This is CrossStitch Tilda. I started coloring her and then had to go hunting for the paper and embellishments. Luckily, I have a huge stash of...well, everything! The background paper was embossed and then I sanded lightly. The sentiment came from an old swap, the yellow gingham strip was leftover scraps from a previous project. The flower was a bonus, I found it on the bottom of one of my craft drawers! I love finding flowers and money when I least expect it, don't you?!
Between our Spring Break vacation driving to and from Florida, and then work being crazy due to sacraments and registration and student evaluations, I haven't had much chance to do more than sweep my craft room with a glance. I'm looking forward to a weekend long crop at the end of this month, woohoo! I guess I can save my scrapping for then, and steal moments with my Tildas, Bellas and Kettos and make cards for now.

New Stamped Images from Stamping Bella

I just got an envie of stamped images from Holley on Scrapbook Place Yahoo Group. It was chock full of Ketto girls from Stamping Bella---love the Ketto girls. This one is called missmatch Ketto, although I didn't color her mismatched, I think she rocks this card. Thanks, Holley!
